It's the Little Things

Sitting here in my pajamas at 11:00 (yeah...it's that kind of day) and linking up with Rebecca Jo over at Knit By God's Hand for Thankful Thursday.

I admit I am struggling a bit this week. This whole isolation thing has really been getting to me the last few days. With no job to go to (or even do at home), Tim back to work, nowhere to go, and faced with basically the same old same old every day...I am drifting. I need structure and purpose to keep on track. Listing the things I have to be thankful for helps lift the mood so I'm listing!

This week I am thankful...

** that Tim, knowing my current mood, has been calling me a few times a day just to talk, tease, annoy, and generally keep me from falling into a funk.

And yet...I miss him now that he's back to work.

** for letters from my biological father and half-sister. They, their families, and my half-brothers and their families are all healthy. This whole virus mess may mean that my father won't be coming back from Texas this summer, which will put our meeting off for another year. That scares me because he is 81 and has a pacemaker. I'm thankful he is okay. I pray he stays that way so I can meet him...though I am already blessed by knowing who he is and the letters we've been exchanging. That is already so much more than I ever thought I'd have.

** the intestinal upset I was feeling on Tuesday wasn't anything serious. It must have just been something I ate.

** I didn't miss bible study on Tuesday even though I bowed out of it. It turned out that our teacher wasn't feeling well, either, and cancelled the class. She is fine, too.

** Megan and the kids have come over for a while every afternoon to brighten my day. Sometimes Colton comes by himself just to be with me, his Nah-nah (Nana). He loves sharks and when I was at Walmart this week I saw a shark expedition play set. It was inexpensive, but there's a big boat with a crane to lift a big shark in a claw, a submarine, or a diving cage. There's a helicopter and helipad and a car that runs down a circling ramp, around the boat and depending on how you open or close different gates and ramps...it can shoot straight out the back, out the front, into a ferry and out the back, or get flipped off the side. Great fun! It makes lots of fun boat sounds, too. To be honest, I'm not sure if he comes to see me or the boat. Ha!

** I can get away with sitting around in my pajamas until lunch if I want to. Who's gonna see me?

** for Amazon. Say what you will, but it's pretty amazing right now when those boxes show up on the porch with their big smiles.

** the Beth Moore study I am doing on my own. It's called Believing God and it's got 5 points.

  1. God is who he says he is.
  2. God can do what he says he can do.
  3. I am who God says I am.
  4. I can do all things through Christ.
  5. God's Word is alive and active in me.
It's a good for a newer believer, but also a really good booster shot for the faith of a seasoned believer, as well.

** Megan is bringing us some of the beef-vegetable soup she made last night so I don't have to cook today.

** that no matter what all this is about...whether it's all because of a simple virus or due to some political conspiracy...God's got it under control. I'm sure he didn't cause it, but he has allowed it, which means it's all part of his plan and I trust in him. I do think this is a wake up call for the church to get back to the Word and live by what it really says, not by what we think it says or what we want it to say. As the saying goes...

** and of course, I am glad, as always, for all of YOU!

  2. That is my favorite of all the studies we've done. It impacted my understanding of being a christian more than anything else ever has.

That last saying is so very true. We can't pick and choose.

  3. Its 4 pm and I still haven't gotten out of pj's, Stacy. For the record, I did shower and wash my hair (witch! sorry, not you, my hair grin) and I put on a clean set of pj's and that's that. My husband took one look and goes, "So, that's it?" Yep, deal with it. He said, "Ok then, I'll join you." He didn't get dressed either and is walking around in his pj bottoms and a t shirt...how sad are we? TMI

I have a very lousy mood. You can read about it on FB (in reference to Spanish).

For Colton, have you seen the Live Shark Cam at the Monterey Bay Aquarium? Just go to their website!
    It is so neat!

So glad that you husband is kind and understanding and that you are in contact with family near and far away. It does help to be in contact and stay connected.
