This week I am thankful...
** This morning finds me thankful that we are still under stay-at-home orders and I haven't found another job yet, because it's one of those mornings where I woke up sleepy and it's not shaking off. So, with nowhere to go I can go back to sleep when I finish here. Naps...one of the best perks of the pandemic.
** Winter's last fling is finally letting go of us and the temperature is climbing. I don't know about you, but my mood during this time has been much better on the days we actually have nice weather and sunshine.
** For our grandson's ever emerging personality. He has moments that the doctor is already calling "social anxiety" (Don't get me started on the labeling of kids so early!), but when he forgets and relaxes, he is such a funny little guy and a loving one. He is prone to announcing "I like...(fill in the blank with a person)" and often it's me he is liking. It just tickles me to death. I was able to make his day yesterday with a shark tent, sharks being his latest obsession.
** That Leah is such a good eater and is not following in the picky footsteps of her parents and brother before her. The girl LOVES food. It's a good thing, too, because she is wanting to always be on the go. She's 9 1/2 months old and running all over the place with one of those toys that you push. I'll bet she's going to take off and go on her own by the end of the month!
** Our stores continue to stay pretty well stocked while the news keeps reporting shortages and rising prices everywhere.
** Everyone seems to be moving forward, but cautiously, as we get ready to move out of the stay-at-home phase of the pandemic and reopen many businesses tomorrow. Still no hair salon's, though. (So, who decided liquor stores were necessary but hair salons weren't, anyway??)
** For God's Word that is active and alive and fresh every day. For inspired teachers who help me to see what I don't always get on my own. For example, this morning I saw that while we are created expressly for God's pleasure, He built it into us to find the majority of our fulfillment in Him! We seek Him and find fulfillment and that brings Him pleasure in us. Win-win!
** For the renewed energy that comes with nicer weather. Well, except for today. Today doesn't count. LOL
** That next week's bible study meeting will be our last online. The following week we are planning to meet in person! I'm so excited!!
** That blogging friend, Terri's knee surgery went well on Tuesday and she is home!
** I can report yet again, that all I know and love are well and virus free.
** For all of you!
No such luck here...although Steuben County is suppose to open on Phase 1 tomorrow. Hornell, will not. I am completely dismayed how the likes of Walmart and Lowes can be open and yet, the regular retail can not. ANYWAYS, we are looking at August now.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in labeling children, period. Children develop their own personalities with love and nurture. JMO
Wishing you luck on the job hunt, something I can not do until we reopen, which again, looks like August. I will continue to look out of state, not that matters, they will put us in insolation for 2 weeks because NY is still on Pause.
Yeah, the phasing in of reopening really means I'm not looking yet. There aren't too many places to look. I'm counting on Indeed to find me something when the time is right. I found my last job through them. They are a good deal...not like the other one I recently signed up for...it fills my email with tons of announcements of jobs that "just posted" but the links lead to endless questions about what you're looking for and if they ever take you to the job I haven't lasted long enough to find out. Plus, it seems they sold my info and I get a ton of crap emails now.
DeleteNo, labeling kids just ticks me off. My kids are quick to say their children have this or that and I keep telling them to "shut up about it" at least in front of the grands. If they keep hearing it said, it will become so. Colton, especially, is so bright and you can watch him taking it all in. I try to counter it all with positive. I hope it's enough.
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your Thankful list.
And I love the shark tent!
We are in a middle phase of opening, but I am in no hurry to run out and about.
Naps are the best. : )
Leah is my kinda gal loving all the food!
ReplyDeleteYou're right - they do put labels & diagnose kids so young.
I know you'll be excited to get with your bible study group.
Love that shark tent and so would my Colton! So glad to hear all are well in your world. God is good!
ReplyDeleteSunny weather does wonders! But once it hits the 90's it to hot. So mornings are good. Glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteThat's a darling tent! I don't understand the 'shark' fad (here, too) -- particularly since I'm terrified of them. That's what I get for not having little ones, right?! Yep, naps are wonderful. "Perks of the pandemic" … love it!
ReplyDeleteLove that tent. Little kids love to crawl inside places and play like that. My sister and I made a playhouse with a blanket over a cardtable and we played house inside that little house. Just something special about having their own space. Maybe that's why we women all want to have a "she-shed" and men need their "man cave". LOL. Praying you will all come out of this isolation stronger and better than ever. It's been tough on everyone, and we are all ready for it to be O V E R! But patience is one of those virtues we're supposed to be learning... Blessings to you my friend. Hang in there. God is with you in this place.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother always let me build a cardtable tent in her living room. Plus haul all of her kitchen gadget into it because I was "camping." Good memories.
DeleteStore shelves -- I've found that the popular chain stores offer slim pickings, but the tiny mom-and-pop on the other side of town had just about EVERYTHING! Full-sized paper towels, meat and fish (everyone, it seems, has poultry) ... it was like Disneyland! If only they'd had disinfectant or sanitizer, I would have felt like I'd seen Heaven. :)
