In Latrobe...
The Weather
It's a chilly 29 degrees with a high of 38 expected. Snow flurries are expected throughout the day and an icy mix is expected to move through the area tonight and into tomorrow before changing to rain.
Reading
I finished Blood Hollow by William Kent Krueger last night. It's book #4 in the Cork O'Connor series. The series is set in the town of Aurora, Minnesota on the shores of Iron Lake. O'Connor is 3/4 Irish and 1/4 Ojibwe. The Ojibwe play a prominent role in the books since the reservation is near Aurora and O'Connor is often caught somewhere in the middle of his white beliefs and the pull of that little bit of Ojibwe that flows in his veins.
Next up is book #5 in the Longmire series. The Dark Horse by Craig Johnson.
Watching
Though I hate to admit it, I've been watching a lot of the shows on the Travel Channel where they are hunting Bigfoot. I don't know what it is about them, I guess they just amuse me. There are the serious whackos like the hillbillies on Mountain Monsters who are running around in the dark with loaded guns and acting like total idiots and then there are several with seemingly normal, rational people...some of whom have scientific degrees...who are out there in the dark but doing it it the way any scientist would when trying to find an elusive animal. Of course, there is the one or two obligatory nut jobs who yell, "Aliens!" This stuff is just funny, but there are a lot of people out there who are sure they've seen bigfoot.
Thankful For
Our daughter was back at Med Express and then the ER yesterday. She was/is still having pain and still had blood in her urine. The doctor at Med Express said that if she had an infection, the antibiotics should have at least cleared it up enough to stop that at this point. He suspected a kidney stone and sent her to the ER for a CT-scan. Guess what? She does indeed have a stone. Given all of her symptoms, you'd have thought someone would guessed that before and checked, but nope. She is at home because they believe the stone is small enough to pass on its own. Maybe it will go better now as they gave her 4 prescriptions. I don't know what they are for sure, but past experience tells me they probably include something for pain and something for nausea.
Now if we could only getting her sleeping at night.
The Weekend
Tim was actually off the whole weekend and was able to get a good bit of rest. The antibiotics seem to be helping as he said yesterday that he's feeling better than he has in a while. Yay!
He was up and at 'em early on Saturday so he'd be first in line at the tire place. He's needed new tires on his truck for a while, but just never made the time to get it done and now it's hard to find the tires he needs. The ones he got weren't exactly what he wanted but they'll do.
We went out to look at materials for turning the master bathroom into a powder room/laundry room in the afternoon. We didn't have tons of luck, but we did find flooring we liked at Sam's Club and for less than half the price it was at Lowe's.
Since we were there, we did some shopping at Sam's and then stopped at Gordon's Foods just down the road. It's been there for several years, but we'd never stopped. It is much smaller than Sam's, but still a sort of warehouse club type of place. Anyone can shop there with or without the membership, but a lot of it is geared toward restaurants and businesses. We only got a couple of things there.
We had a late lunch at Lupi & Leo's a cute little place that has the most amazing food. It was nice because there was only one other couple there at the time. We both had their personal pizza. Tim had mushrooms, pepperoni, and anchovies (bleech!). I had mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and pepperoni. We also indulged in spinach/artichoke dip with homemade pita chips.
Megan brought the kids over right after we got home and we kept them until their bedtime to give her and Cody some time to just sit and talk without kids demanding attention.
Sunday was pretty relaxing, though Tim did finally get new brakes put on my car. We had bought them before Christmas and he just hadn't had the time or felt up to it. So glad that is done.
Today
Nothing is planned. It's a good day to hibernate and do household chores, start the next book.... I do expect that at some point Megan will ask me to take the kids for a while. She does most days and definitely if she's not feeling well.
Supper tonight is pierogies and kielbasa.
Happy Monday! Make it a great week.
Sounds like a nice cozy day for you. Same here. OH and bless her heart with the kidney stone. My husband has had those and I have seen the pain. I pray she passes it soon! Have a nice evening. Supposed to get some ice and snow here starting tomorrow morning!
ReplyDeleteWe're supposed to get some yucky weather today and tomorrow! We had pierogies for lunch :)
ReplyDeleteColletta
I hope Megan gets some relief soon! Ouch!
ReplyDeleteWe've had blustery weather the past few days. Brrr!
I had to giggle about the Bigfoot thing. Idiots. Nailed it.
ReplyDeleteYour poor daughter! I feel for her. Steve suffers from those occasionally. He had them so bad for awhile that we finally had to have a water softner installed to filter the calcium out of the water. He's only had one since then (took 7 years to build back up). He drinks his water or tea with lime or lemon juice. The citrus supposedly "melts" the calcium buildups in his system, most of the time. Anyway, I hope your daughter is better soon. Drink some beer. It helps flush the kidneys out real good.
Love & Prayers xx
Bigfoot! Made me chuckle! I have watched a couple of those a few times and would be so surprised if they ever find real evidence of a bigfoot. Glad Tim is feeling better and getting some things done now. Hope Megan gets rid of that stone soon and also starts to feel better. Hang in there!! Peace!
ReplyDeleteHi Stacy. I am glad that doctors finally figured out what is going on with your daughter. I sure hope she is out of pain and feeling better soon. Sounds like you had a pretty good weekend. I like the idea of turning your master bath into a powder/laundry room. Will be nice not ot have to lug your laundry up and down stairs. Glad you had a good weekend. See you again soon.
ReplyDeleteI do pray that her kidney stone will pass without too much more pain or trouble. I had one when 7 months pg, and they thought I was in labor and kept me overnight, and then I passed it myself. It was not an experience that I wanted to have again. I hope you had a nice cozy day and stayed warm and happy. Those shows sound funny.
ReplyDeleteI had a kidney stone. I won't lie -- it was MISERABLE! I didn't hurt that bad after surgery. I only mention this so that your daughter doesn't expect too much from herself. I was very impatient with myself. How could something that is (in the scheme of things) not that serious debilitate me? Well, it did! BTW, it took them a while to diagnose mine, too.
