A Taxing Hodgepodge

I'm joining in with Joyce and the gang for the Wednesday Hodgepodge today. We're halfway through another week of the shelter-at-home order. Is there an end in sight? A lot of bigwigs are making noises about it, but just as many are saying "not so fast!" Whatever. God is in control and I trust him to work it all out to serve his purposes.

1. In Monday’s post I mentioned I would incorporate the word I was given for letter K into this week’s questions. That word was karaoke. On a scale of 1-10 how excited would you be to find out there was karaoke happening at your next gathering/outing with friends? 10=gimme that microphone!, and 1=I suddenly remembered there’s somewhere else I need to be. Have you ever actually done karaoke? If you had to perform karaoke what would be your ‘go-to’song?  Yikes! If I can just sit and listen to others sing, I'd be like an 8 or 9, but if you're going to make me sing....I suddenly remembered there's somewhere else I need to be! I don't want to sing and you don't want to hear me sing. Trust me. Oh, and no, I have never done karaoke and I will never do karaoke. I don't need a song since it's not gonna happen.

2. How do you listen to music these days? Favorite app or do you listen the old fashioned way? Do you have music playing often in your home? Is there still a CD player in your car?  I have a large CD collection and a small stereo in the house, but I usually just tell Alexa to play whatever. I pay for unlimited music on Amazon. We have music playing fairly often. Yes, there's a CD player in my car and a large selection of burned CDs that I do listen to when I'm in the mood. Mostly I listen to the local oldies station and KLOVE.

3. The HP lands on US tax day this year. Or what used to be tax day before everything including filing your taxes was cancelled, delayed, postponed or extended. FYI- filing your taxes has not been cancelled, only delayed for a bit.

Besides staying away from anyone and everyone, what have you found taxing lately?
Filling the days. I'm getting tired of the same old same old. I'm finding that I'm feeling bored and restless at least part of the day.

4. You’re without power so no oven, and you can’t open your frig or freezer in order to keep what’s in there from spoiling. And you don’t have access to take out. What will you make us for dinner? Hmm...that's pretty limiting. Peanut butter sandwiches and chips? There's not much else I could do without power or opening the refrigerator or freezer.

5.  I’ve seen this exercise going around Facebook and thought it would be a good one to include in the HP...what are five things everybody seems to love and go crazy for that you personally don’t care for?  Downton Abbey (sorry, sorry, sorry!), Nutella, sushi, The Bachelor, and Instagram/Snapchat.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  After checking out Facebook, I think a lot of folks need to remember this.

  1. {{{rolling laughter}}} you and I can't be friends anymore; you dont like Downton? You don't like Nutella? Oh my gosh, what a travesty, LOLOL (teasing)--I am the only one in this house that does, and that's just fine, LOL.

Hey, I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee your new look here, very pretty. I hope you have a beautiful day, regardless of the "house arrest", which I am choosing to call it, grin.

    1. I might survive Downton Abbey as long as you don't serve me Nutella or sushi! Does that sort of redeem me? LOL

      Having a great day, actually!

  3. I don't like Nutella or Sushi either nor the Bachelor. However, I do like Instagram. It's about my favorite social app. Downton Abbey was ok. I like the first year and then kinda lost interest, although I did watch the last show just to see what happened to everyone.

    1. I don't know...maybe it's because I like words so much. I'm not big on texting or Twitter, either, because I write too much and have to figure out how to shorten it.

  4. I don't think I've ever tasted Nutella, but totally agree about sushi AND Downton Abbey. Love the final meme ...never forget!

  5. I'm with you on 4 out of 5 of #5. :) Not telling which one I do like. I also have sushi on my list! It is getting boring being housebound. I do know the first thing I'll do when restrictions are lifted. Have my little grands over and play with them!!

  6. I feel like many are with you when it comes to sushi but I like it. Not everything, but there are many kinds I do like. I enjoy Instagram but have never gotten into snapchat. I don't get the point. Stay well and hopefully we'll be back to more normal living one day soon.

  7. I'm not much on music, but I do have Sirius radio in my car. I like being able to travel everywhere and never lose my channel. I mostly listen to the Christian music station. I don't like Nutella either, but I'll eat your sushi while watching Downton Abbey. Is that a deal?

  8. Peanut butter sandwiches at my house too. Actually, I make them regularly. Next to grilled cheese, that is my husband's favorite sandwich. Yep, he's still a kid at heart. We have Amazon music too, and I listen to music all day long...mostly instrumental jazz. I need it for background noise, so that outside sounds are muffled and my dogs aren't going nuts. I am definitely with you on the Bachelor, but I do love Downton Abbey.
