And Rebecca Jo could use some prayers, if you would. Her mama is in the hospital and if it is like it is here, family can't be with her. Also her sweet old dog, Bruno, went to be with God yesterday and if you've ever lost a pet, you know how hard that is. It's a sad loss even for those of us who never met Bruno, but cheered for his strength and courage as he learned to navigate his world with wheels as Rebecca Jo shared his story with us. Run free Bruno!
This week finds me thankful...
** for home. I know i have grumbled about boredom at times, but I know that I am blessed beyond measure to live as comfortably as I do. We are not rich, or even wealthy by the standards of this country, but we have so much more than those in most of the world.
I have a cozy home that keeps me warm when it's cold, dry when it rains, and cool when it's hot. Not only do I have indoor plumbing, there are two bathrooms...and I actually worry about the luxury of decorating them. I have a kitchen with a full refrigerator and freezer, a full pantry, and appliances and gizmos (half of which I never use) to create a variety of delicious foods. I have a laptop, a cell phone, a house phone, and a 60" TV connected to cable, Netflix, and Prime Video.
I have plenty of paper, yarn, paints, glue, paints, pens and whatnot to be as creative as I like. I have hundreds of books and a Kindle with more books stored. I can get online, click a few buttons and buy anything else my heart desires and have it delivered right to my door.
I am blessed.
** for family. There are times it is annoying, but most of the time it is a huge blessing to have my mom and stepdad living directly behind us and our daughter and her family living right beside us. We are family. We are each other's support system. We have each other's backs.
When there is a job to do, there's someone to pitch in and lend a hand. When the grands need a babysitter someone is there to do it. Mowing three yards is a team effort. Holiday meals are cooked in three houses and served at one.
There are so many moments with the grands. Like yesterday, sitting at the table with the boy. We were playing with his bucket of yellow, banana-scented slime and laughing when he suddenly looked up at me and said, "I like you!" Oh, my heart. Or when the girl baby woke up from a nap but spent the next hour snuggled into my shoulder. Oh, my heart.
I am blessed.
** for my God who may not work huge miracles of biblical proportions very often these days, but who does work countless little ones every single day. He is there in all things if I look and he is patient to remind me to look.
He has endless patience with me and forgives me when I ask. He prods me to grow in our relationship and encourages me to strive to be more like him. He is always there for me.
I am blessed.
** for my husband who works hard to support us. For his wish for me to be able to stay at home, at least for now, to be with the grandkids.
** for health. To date, not one single person I know or love has gotten sick with Covid-19.
** for online friends. Each of you are a blessing and add much to each day. I thank God for you.
I. AM. BLESSED.
Sending prayers for Rebecca Jo!
ReplyDeleteIt is the same way here about family being
with someone in the hospital and that makes
it hard.
I have also lost a pet and it is a sad thing
because they become part of the family.
Have a Blessed day Stacy.
I feel so bad for those who find themselves with a loved one in the hospital or a nursing home, for that matter. And all the poor folks who can't even have a funeral. Just so sad.
DeletePeople who can't have a funeral for someone is one I
Deletehadn't thought of until you mentioned it and I agree
it is very sad.
This is an encouraging list! And I love the pictures of the grands!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteAlso praying for Rebecca Jo. There has been so much suffering by those who have to face illnesses alone, and for families not able to be with their sick one.
ReplyDeleteYou are very blessed to be so close with family. One of our grandchildren has been here a few times a week, as our households have been mixed up anyway with one of our older ones babysitting him here and there, and stopping in at their house out of necessity, so we're exposed to each other anyway. It's been a blessing to see him, he's two years old and adorable. The other grand kids, I've seen them at a distance, and I miss them coming over. I miss the little girl I babysit for, she was a cuddler! I am thankful for so many things too, God is doing quite a work in these times, gathering those who have been shaken and awakened, to the seriousness of setting things straight in their lives.

We haven't seen our two older grandkids since this started, but unfortunately, we don't see them more than once a month or so even under good circumstances. God is surely sending a wake up call. I hope folks decide to listen.
DeleteYour paragraph about having paper, glue, etc. reminded me of this verse from Exodus: "God has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers."
ReplyDeleteAnd your grandchildren are adorable!
How awesome! I love that.
DeleteBeautiful, all of this! Thank you for these reminders to acknowledge and appreciate the ordinary things in our extraordinary lives.
ReplyDeletePS - Lifting prayers for Rebecca Jo. Yes, all too well I know the pain of losing a fur baby. And now, my Macie Ann is miles away at the vet getting fluids and tests run. (My 'what-iffer' is going crazy.)
Oh, I hope Macie Ann is okay!
DeleteI love your post, Stacy! It is so important to count our blessings!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much friend for the sweet prayers.... it's been a doozy of a week. I really do know that so many did cheer Bruno on through the years. He was a little loved man for so long....
ReplyDeleteIndeed we all are blessed.
This is such a great post! You've said everything so perfectly. When you're on God's side, you can't help but be blessed! Have a wonderful day Stacy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all you said. I have been at a "Virtual Craft Cruise" and it is keeping me busy. I will have to post on it this weekend. What do you do with your crafts?
ReplyDeleteA virtual craft cruise? Oh yes, do post on what in the world that is! I don't do any crafts that I actually do anything with. I just mess around for my own enjoyment.
