It's a gray, rainy Wednesday morning here in southwestern PA so what better to brighten the day than joining in with Joyce @ From This Side of the Pond for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.
1. The Hodgepodge lands on the second day of a brand new month. Tell us one thing you're looking forward to in September. Wow. This really took a lot of pondering. This crazy year doesn't show any signs of returning to normal any time soon and all the normal fall things have been shelved. We don't have any family celebrations this month. All I can come up with is that a favorite author has a new book coming out later this month.
3. Something you had second thoughts about after committing to, purchasing, or posting/commenting online? I have to admit I've had second thoughts about leaving my job at the nursing home. It had become completely miserable there, but had I known how all this Covid-19 stuff would play out and that 5 months later the economy would still be shut down and finding a job would be like finding a hen's teeth...I might have hitched up my bloomers, gritted my teeth and hung in there.
5. Something you do so often or that comes so naturally to you it's second nature? Keeping the peace/avoiding conflict.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I thought I was going to be going to hear President Trump speak tomorrow evening at our local airport, but I've found out that having tickets doesn't mean anything. They will give out as many tickets as people call and ask for then it is first come, first served to get in...and at virutally all events like this not everyone will get in. So, to guarantee getting in people start lining up hours before hand. My mom and stepdad and our daughter and son-in-law were going to go, too, but now none of us are going. The time commitment isn't possible for our daughter and Mom and John are older and can't be expected to stand in line that long. I'm not going alone...or standing there all day to maybe not get in. I questioned why they even bother with tickets, but then it dawned on me that you have to give your mailing address, email, and cell phone number to sign up. They have three ways to bombard you with campaign stuff now.
2. Do you enjoy browsing second-hand shops? Last thing you bought or 'inherited' second hand? I do! It's one of my favorite things to do. So much in my house is inherited from family or second hand. I love old things. The last thing I bought at a thrift shop was this picture, purchased for $5.
4. What's a product or service you use that you'd rate as second to none? Magnilife Pain Relieving Foot Cream. It's sort of expensive (over $38 on Walmart's website) but it WORKS! Nothing else I've ever tried comes close.
5. Something you do so often or that comes so naturally to you it's second nature? Keeping the peace/avoiding conflict.

Your random thought was very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all of your answers today.
Have a great Wednesday my friend.
Thanks for sharing about the foot cream. I will have to tell my hubby. Sorry your plans did not work out. My husband got to meet President Bush Sr. back in the 80's. Do you want to go back to work? It is nice having you around everyday!
ReplyDeleteI took my son to see Clinton when he was very young and my stepdad took both kids to see Bush Jr. I hope the cream works for your hubby.
DeleteLoved your answers... Yes, I understand about the bombardment mainly via email.. I get half a dozen everyday.. and every new rep running.. I wish I could support them all but alas, my goodness!!!
ReplyDeleteI already got the emails. I don't seem to be getting text messages but my daughter and her mother-in-law who signed up are being slammed with text messages from the Trump committee.
DeleteGreat deal on the picture, it's perfect for this time of year. I guess it's disappointing not being able to see the President after making plans to do so. I couldn't handle the lines and crowds. Hope you find a job soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary.
DeleteOH how I wish it was grey and rainy here.
ReplyDeleteLately I have been having a stabbing pain on the side of my foot. I thought maybe it is artritis. I'll have to look for that cream. Sometimes I really hurts.
I'd give it a try. When my feet and legs hurt so bad I can't sleep it calms them down and quickly.
DeleteI tend to avoid any political functions--too crazy and crowded for me. Can you watch online?
ReplyDeleteHind sight on jobs is always hard to accept. But you know God has His plan for you.
Yes, I imagine it will be live on Facebook.
DeleteSorry about the bogus tickets. What a shame. You are right about getting ways to ask for money. I get at least two in my email every day. You know, that nursing home job might have worked out but it also could have become a bigger nightmare. Everything happens for a reason. God is in control. Is that foot cream good for sore muscles or does it just soften calluses?
ReplyDeleteI have the flattest feet in the world and some days my feet HURT to distraction. It's the only thing I've found that really helps.
DeleteSweet picture! What a disappointment (re. seeing President Trump), realizing "the REST of the story", as Paul Harvey would say. Your job? Everyone's different, but choosing to walk away 3 years ago from a very lucrative -- but toxic work situation was the best decision I've ever made. At the time, I didn't realize just how close to the edge I'd been teetering.
ReplyDelete'Wondering if that foot cream would work on my lower back. Must investiGoogle!
Yeah, I miss the paycheck but not the environment. I know I would be miserable if I was still there. The cream might. Ya never know!
DeleteI've been getting emails and mail for a while now, but the other day something new-texting! Not sure how they got my number but I do not want to be solicited for a political donation. I'm sure it's disappointing to miss the event though. I do hope something works out soon in the job department. A tough time to be hunting for sure. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joyce. It might still be possible to go to the Trump rally. I've heard they are going to put up a jumbotron for those outside and 4500 will get in.
DeleteThis whole Covid thing has been so distressing for everyone. Just today we were discussing how people wearing masks can affect babies' perceptions of people when they can't see their mouths with smiles or speech. This has got to end. God bless you and lead you.
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot about how detrimental the masks are to a lot of people. I sure hope it all ends soon.
DeleteI'd say you are probably RIGHT ON with the ticket thing. I'm sorry that didn't work out for you. I'm super nosy, so now I'm wondering which author has a new book coming out!
ReplyDeleteJan
Laughter and Consistency
James Rollins has the new one coming out.
DeleteSorry about your job situation. That foot cream looks interesting. Glad it works for you. Happy September!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ellen and a happy September to you!
DeleteLOL at the random. I have only had one experience with a mob/crowd and learned my lesson. I'm sorry about your job. I wish the very best for you. I like old things, too. Even though I'm not a shopper, it's fun looking at old things, and I have several antiques in my house.
