Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) The Cowsills were a family band who had three hit singles. Can you name another group of popular singing siblings? The Jackson 5, the Osmonds, Hanson, the Carpenters, the Andrews Sisters...
2) This was their first hit, and it reached #2 on the Billboard charts. It was kept out of the #1 slot by the Monkees and "Daydream Believer." What's your favorite Monkees song? I'm a Believer closely followed by Last Train to Clarksville.
3) After seeing the Cowsill brothers perform with their mother and sister, TV producers were inspired to create the sitcom, The Partridge Family. Did you ever watch it? All the time and lately we've been watching an episode or two on the weekends.
4) In the song, the narrator takes a flower from a girl in the park. Are there flowers in your home right now? Not real ones.
5) He isn't sure if the girl was real, or if he dreamed her. Tell us about a recent dream you had. I can't think of anything. I don't remember my dreams very often. I never have.
6) At the height of the Cowsills' popularity, they were hired by the American Dairy Association to promote drinking milk. If we were to peek into your refrigerator right now, would we find any milk? Yes. We always have a gallon on hand. Tim likes milk on his oatmeal, which he eats at least twice a day, and Colton LOVES chocolate milk, which he wants almost as soon as he walks in the door.
7) After the band stopped performing together, John Cowsill went on to become a back up musician for the Beach Boys. His job has kept him on the road much of the time. When you travel, do you enjoy staying in hotels, or would you rather stay with friends/family? There are some family and friends I would enjoy staying with, but for most, I'd rather stay in a hotel. Less work for them and I can completely relax and not worry about whether or not I'm being a good guest.
8) In 1967, the year this song was popular, Elvis married Priscilla in Las Vegas. Have you attended any weddings yet this year? Are there any weddings in your future? No and no.
9) Random question: Are the bottoms of your feet ticklish? Oh my yes! The ladies who do my pedicures deserve hazard pay!
Play along at the Saturday 9.
Thanks to Crazy Sam for the questions!
#1 -- Ah! The Andrews Sisters! Good addition to the siblist. Maybe we should do an Andrews Sisters Sat 9 one of these days.
ReplyDelete#9 -- I hadn't thought of how difficult a pedi would be with ticklish feet!
I vote for an Andrews Sisters Saturday 9!
DeleteI totally forgot about the Carpenters … loved them, and got to see them perform once in Abilene with one of the children's (grade school) choirs. An Andrews Sisters Saturday 9 sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it? I'll be looking forward to that.
DeleteCoffee-flavored kisses and a bit of conversation ...what a great lyric.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I forgot about the Carpenters... I had three of their songs sung at my wedding. Love your answer to #9!
ReplyDeleteOh, their songs would be perfect for a wedding. I'm surprised my husband (who really likes them) didn't think of that when we chose our music.
DeleteI am on a Big Ban kick and the Andrews Sisters had a number of great songs.
ReplyDeleteMy dad was a good bit older than my mom so I grew up hearing his music, which was Big Band. Then the last couple of years working at the nursing home I played a lot of it for the residents. I like it as much as they do.
DeleteFun answers. I hadn't thought about or listened to any songs by the Cowsills for a long time. I love the Carpenters. I thought Karen's voice was amazing - so deep and rich. Just yesterday, I got a invitation to the wedding reception of a child of someone I went to highschool with. I would love to go and see my friend, but with Coronavirus spiking big time here in our state, I think I will decline. Hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there are any big weddings coming up around here, either. We still aren't at the point of reopening where it would be allowed, anyway. My husband is the big Carpenters fan in our house.
DeleteI have never had a pedicure. My poor ol' feet stay in sneakers. I've caught an episode or two of The Partridge Family in the last few months. David Cassidy is still good looking. At least at that age. LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, he was cute, but terribly cheesy looking back. lol
DeleteI never have a pedicure, I just can't stand my feet touched, grin. Have a beautiful day, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm fine except for when they work on the soles, that's when all bets are off.
DeleteI guess my feet aren't terribly ticklish--pedicures don't make me jumpy.
ReplyDeleteI wish I wasn't. I have such a hard time and usually both the lady doing it and I are giggling hysterically.
DeleteI never thought about that. I had a pedicure once and it didn't bother me at all. Maybe I am not as ticklish as I think I am. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

I never thought about it, either, until I got my first one and found out just how ticklish my feet are.
DeleteI enjoyed listening to this song and singing along again. It's been a LONG time since I heard it. I was a senior in high school when that song came out. I enjoyed your answers and yes, I have a flower in my house right now...a water lily that I picked when I went kayaking again this morning!!!
ReplyDeleteA senior! Oh my...I think I MIGHT have been in kindergarden. I loved watching their show. So cool that the rain filled your pond enough to go kayaking.
DeleteI always have a gallon of milk too.. love the stuff. I always enjoy reading these answers and getting to know more about people
ReplyDeleteI actually don't use the milk very often at all. I don't like it. I do, however, like chocolate and vanilla almond milk. The vanilla is yummy on cereal!
DeletePlastic flowers, I love it! When we lived in Enfield the ex used them in the garden. They looked great! But, someone said how can you still have sunflowers? Mine already died!
ReplyDeleteI saw a house in Gamerco, NM once that had an entire lawn covered in plastic grass and plastic flowers all over. It was colorful and it sure stood out in the desert.
DeleteI don't get pedicures often but yes to that hazard pay! I jerk my feet at least a dozen times during a pedicure. Fun questions. Joe only drinks chocolate (whole) milk. I don't drink milk often but keep it for cereal, etc. Have a good weekend, Stacy!
ReplyDeleteColton won't drink ANYTHING but chocolate milk. His mommy buys him the ready made stuff, but I make it myself. Thank goodness he's not picky about that.
DeleteActually, I LOVE staying in hotels, having them neatened up each day, not full of my clutter! LeeAnna at not afraid of color
ReplyDeleteYes, that's why they are so darn relaxing! No work for me to do.
DeleteI loved the Carpenters and had several of their songs at my wedding. I wrote my post last night and had to go back this morning and add my dream because it was God giving me an answer to a prayer.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a cool dream! How exciting!
DeleteOh yes! I'm laughing at your feet comment because I get scolded every time. I only do 2 pedicures a year for the summer and that's all. It is something I dread.
ReplyDeleteI only do them in the summer, too, and usually no more than 3 or 4 at the most.
DeleteI had all sorts of thoughts to share and then I got to your answer to #9 and lost it! Hahahaha about the hazard pay! So true for me, too; they'd get a good kick or two in the face! ;)
ReplyDeleteSo far, I haven't actually kicked anyone, but I did end up getting my toe cut because I jerked when I shouldn't have.
DeleteOatmeal twice a day! I love the taste of the stuff, but the texture just icks me. I'm definitely a texture person. Although, I could eat grits twice a day, lol.
ReplyDeleteI don't eat nuts for the same reason. The texture just skeeves me out. Blech!
DeleteI'm with you on #9 lol.
ReplyDeleteAwful, isn't it?
