Thankful Thursday

Good morning. Got a bit of insomnia going on so I'm not all that bright-eyed and bushy tailed today, but still there is much to be thankful for and I'm linking up with Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand for Thankful Thursday.

This week I am thankful...

** to have survived the extreme heat. Temperatures are much cooler this morning and should remain seasonable and comfortable for at least the next several days.

** the worst of last night's storms once again missed us. We had some boomers and a pretty heavy downpour, but none of the damaging winds or hail.

** for my bible study group, that we were able to meet in person again, and for the fantastic class and discussion we had.

** for doctors who listen to you, are thorough, and genuinely care enough to go the extra mile.

** I was able to see the dentist and get the tooth I broke three days into the stay-at-home orders removed. Now if it (or rather the crater left behind) would just quit hurting, that'd be great.

** a couple of great days babysitting Colton and Leah. Those two just give me so much joy. (No, our pool isn't in yet. The photos were taken yesterday at their other grandparents' pool.)

** as I watch the news of all those still out of work, newly out of work, and still unable to get any payments from Unemployment...that we have been blessed. Tim was only off work for a month and we didn't have any trouble with his unemployment payments. With me not working there is less money for the extras, but we don't have to worry about losing our home or putting food on the table.

** everyone I know and love continues to be healthy.

** I have confidence in the fact that God is in control. As the world seems to be spiraling more and more out of control and life as we have known it seems unlikely to return, I cling to the peace that comes with having a relationship with Jesus Christ, a peace that flies in the face of what is going on around us. I don't know how those without him navigate this life, but then this life is most likely the way it is because they are doing just that. I don't know about you, but I am ready to hear that trumpet sound!

** as I always am, for each one of you who visits my little blog and shares a bit of wisdom, encouragement, or a smile. You all add something and are a blessing.

Have a blessed and happy Thankful Thursday
and if you've been blessed this week
pass it on. Be a blessing to someone else!

  3. So sorry about your tooth. Sounds like a dental nightmare.
I am also clinging to the hope you mention. We are blessed to know that there is more going on that we cannot see and yet we believe.

    1. Me, too! I am really feeling bad for the young families I'm seeing on the community FB pages looking for a place to buy a pool because nobody has any. I'm hearing that the stores will sell you one, but at this point you won't be getting it until next year!

  5. Oh gosh, can Leah get any cuter? Both are precious! A doctor who actually listens? Now THAT's a treasure.

Those grands in the pool -so cute & fun!!!
There really is something to value in doctors that will give their time & attention to their patients.

    1. Right? We are so disappointed. This doctor that we've just discovered in the last 6 months is an intern. His 2-year contract is ending this month and he will be moving on to somewhere permanent. The closest possibility will be a good 45 minutes from us. Megan is thinking it might be worth it, but it's 45 minutes in a direction way out of the way for Tim to catch it on a work day. Hopefully, we will be happy with the supervising doctor or the new intern, but I think this young guy is a rare jewel. He's just so exceptional in every way, far beyond his years and experience.

  8. Those two kiddos are SO cute!! How great that you had two whole days with both of them! Yep... that trumpet can sound just anytime. I also don't know how people without faith can survive day-to-day. It is great that your group was able to meet in person. Our community group may take some time. I think half of us are ready and the other half are still timid about it. We are an older group, though, and many have health issues so we respect that. xoxox

    1. Most of our group is my age (mid 50's), but we have a couple in their 60's, a woman in her 70's, and our teacher and her husband are 69. They all made the decision that they feel safe in our group and I am so glad.

  10. Your grand kids are adorable! Glad you got your tooth looked at. I have one that chipped a teeny tiny piece off the top and now my tongue won't leave it alone! :)

    1. Don't you HATE that? Why is it that the tiniest little thing in your mouth feels like the Grand Canyon to your tongue?

  11. Hi Stacy, I always enjoy my visit here. Your grands are cute! The virtual camp is through ResetGirl.com. It closed to new people on June 1. This is my 4th year doing it. But basically you pay to go to "camp" for 10 weeks. The cost includes digital printout you use to put together a "smashbook" You get entry to the camp that runs on its own platform. You can join/create cabins based on interest. I formed one called Cali Girls. You can be in as many cabins as you want. There is a forum with open chats and specific boards to post. You post your projects based on certain topics. You earn badges for completing task. There is a virtual map and when you click on it, it takes you to a certain part of camp. The theater takes you to a Facebook page where Cori goes over camp activities. There is a media center that has links to music and Pinterest boards. There is a link to the cabins. There is the classrooms and that is where you get to see the teachers go over different aspects of creating yor smashbook. Resetgirl.com also has things going on. There is a morning Bible study now and there are two FB pages, one for crafty girls and one for Faithful girls. I hope I make sense. Do you like to craft?

    1. Wow, that sounds pretty cool! I think maybe I would like crafting, but I've just never done much...just a little here and there. My mom does sewing and knitting and I don't do either of those.
