For now, while I'm hiding inside, huddled around the air conditioner I'm linking up with Joyce @ From This Side of the Pond for the Wednesday Hodgepodge. Please consider paying her a visit and joining in the fun if you haven't already.
1. Last thing you said yes to? Did you regret it? I agreed to stay with our youngest grands yesterday while their mommy went to a doctor appointment and daddy (who works midnight shift) was sleeping. Nope, no regrets. We had a wonderful time playing and cuddling.
2. No big deal, no contest, no dice, no hard feelings, no ifs ands or buts, no kidding, no offense, no pain no gain, no way...choose one and tell us how it applies to your life currently. It hasn't taken effect yet, but I'm going to go with "no pain, no gain." After talking with my doctor last week, I have a visit to the sports medicine clinic to look forward to...which is most likely going to mean some physical therapy to get my leg straightened out and behaving itself. I'm also going to be going to a weight loss clinic where there should be no gain, but I'm hoping no pain!
3. Thursday June 11th is National Making Life Beautiful Day...in this strange season how are you adding beauty to your days/life? Since I'm not currently working and have my days free, I'm spending lots of time with the grands and other family and friends and doing lots of things I just didn't have time for or was too tired for when I was working. Having time for that makes life more beautiful to me.
4. According to an article found here, these six foods taste better in June than at any other time of the year-strawberries, asparagus, peas, peaches, beets, and garlic. How many of these have you tasted so far this month? Anything on the list you'd say 'no thank you' to trying? Rearrange the list starting with your favorite (1) to your least favorite (6).
- Strawberries
- Garlic
- Peaches
- Asparagus
- Beets
- Peas
I've had fresh strawberries and asparagus this month. I've eaten garlic and peaches, but not fresh. Beets are...ok, but no thank you to peas.
5. Describe your current mood in three words. LA. Zee. Why. Think about it and say it again if you have to. It's just so darn hot and humid.
6. Insert your own random thought here. All of the doctor appointments, tests, and whatnot are behind us for the week and there really isn't anything else on the calendar for the rest of the week. I'm keeping up with the ibuprofen doses today because the crater where my tooth used to be is hurting a good bit if I don't. This is the first time I've ever had pain after dental work and it caught me a bit off guard, but given how the extraction went I probably should have expected it. You can read that story here. Had a great time with my bible study group last night. I guess, basically, life is simply going on and we are trying to live it the best we can in the face of all the turmoil and our "new normal."
Hope the pain from your tooth (or not tooth, I should say) goes away soon. It must be wonderful to be seeing people again. I will definitely not be too hot as it is going to be another night of below freezing temperatures here. I prefer that to the heat of summer though!
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely a wonderful feeling to be seeing people again. I agree, cold is better than too hot. You can only take so much off in the effort to cool off!
DeleteI had to read LA ZEE twice, lol! I hope your mouth feels better. Glad you were able to meet with your bible study ladies. I am looking forward to that, hopefully soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can meet with your group soon, too. I hope everyone can!
DeleteHope your mouth is getting better.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers.
Have a good Wednesday.
Thank you, Gloria.
DeleteHot and humid here too. The High School said 98*, 98* in June, unheard of. lol
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to feeling better, Stacy. smiles
Yep, absolutely ridiculous. In the words of the Wicked Witch..."I'm melting...I'm melllllting!"
DeleteThe new normal ...
ReplyDeleteSigh.
DeleteIt's always great to have the time to spend with the grandkids. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deb and yes, those kiddos are the cure to what ails you. :)
DeleteI got the LA ZEE first time as I have wondered to myself if I am being that as these days there is more sitting time. I'm so sorry about your tooth. I experienced that several years ago and so I sympathize with you. It will go away. It's good you get to be with your family.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nonnie.
DeleteI'm still peeved about your experience at the dentist! Smiling at LA ZEE Why. (Clever girl.) To be honest, the only way I enjoy my peas is in soup form.
ReplyDeleteI don't want them in soup, either. I will, if there aren't too many of them and they are frozen or fresh, eat a few mixed into something.
DeleteYour header is gorgeous! Are those in your yard? So pretty! I'm sorry about your dental woes. They are some of the worst! I'm glad you're enjoying your family and making the most of the opportunity this weird break in routine has offered. I got your word first try too...I hear ya : )
ReplyDeleteSadly, no. The morning glories aren't mine. I've tried many times to grow them, but I guess they just don't like our dirt.
DeleteHope the tooth feels better quickly and you get your leg fixed. No fun especially in the heat.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann.
DeleteHope your tooth feels better soon...maybe some "peas" would help! LOL. I love peas and beets. I must be strange because it seems like everyone else has put them at the bottom of the list. Glad you have been able to spend more time with family, etc., during this time. Just stay "cool" and enjoy every day you can. God is good!
ReplyDeleteI think a pea could get lost in the crater left behind!
DeleteYour tooth extraction experience made me shudder! I have one to look forward to. Yikes. I enjoyed your Hodgepodge. I love peas an pea soup! LOL Grew up on them. Hope the leg issues can be taken care of with therapy. I start mine on Thursday. Do please keep us posted!! No pool installers yet, I guess. :(
ReplyDeleteI don't know what was up yesterday. This is the same dentist we've had for several years now and he's usually very good. I don't know what was up with him yesterday. No, no pool installer. Maybe next week at the soonest, I think.
DeleteYou mentioned several physical issues you're dealing with. I'm praying the Lord continues to give you the grace you need to cope and that restoration to health is soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I appreciate your prayers!
DeleteSorry about that dental pain.. Just be thankful the bad tooth is out and you're on the upside of things. I will be joining you in therapy it seems. I dont mind it.. Therapy last winter for my knees... was great. I wish I could go every day..I'll pray that the weight clinic will go super well for you.. I did a lose wei ght Bible study alst fall and I surendered my eating habits to God and that has helped me more than anything I do fail hima t times but I am faithful to g et back on my feet and keep doing the right thing. Ive lost 40 pounds and Im still on track.... first time ever for me for this long of a time! I wish the very best for you!
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear. I am hoping P.T. will fix whatever is wrong and I don't have to do anything else.
DeleteI really don't like peas...especially the canned, mushy ones and those were the favored veggie at the nursing home. Nothing could stink the place up faster or worse and we'd be picking those vile little green pellets up off the floor, out of hair, out of wheelchairs, out of everywhere for days.
ReplyDeleteComing to grips with the knowledge that it is a lifestyle change and not a diet is one of the most important things. Never tell yourself you are dieting. You are getting healthier, stronger, better, but never dieting! God bless!
