A Ripe Old Hodgepodge

Linking up with Joyce @ From This Side of the Pond for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1. What's one thing you learned at the ripe old age of whatever age you are now?  Well, I just learned the other day that you can ask your Amazon Alexa to fart and she will name a type of fart and do it...then tell you to ask her to make some other type of fart or say "random."

2. I read here a list of foods that can help you look younger-

extra virgin olive oil, green tea, fatty fish, dark chocolate, vegetables, flaxseeds, pomegranates, avocados, tomatoes, spices, bone broth

How many of the foods listed have you tried? How many do you eat regularly? Your favorite from the list?  I've tried everything but flaxseeds. I eat/use extra virgin olive oil, green tea, fatty fish, vegetables, tomatoes and spices regularly. My favorite is vegetables or tomatoes.

3. Something you miss from the 'good old days'? When were the good old days anyway?  I miss when the whole family...aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents...got together on a regular basis. I guess that makes the good old days the 60's through the 80's for me. The 90's seem to be when the family got spread out and we stopped getting together on any kind of regular basis.

4. What are two or three of the most rewarding things to be found in growing older?  Grandchildren, contentment, and being comfortable in your own skin.

5. What's your favorite part of your life right now?  My relationship with the Lord and my grandchildren.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

  5. Now I need to go query Alexa!! LOL I saw that random meme on FB yesterday. Very cute. I still call # a number sign. Can't get used to hashtag. Fun questions today, at least for those of us who are of a more mature age!

  6. I think Alexa is a spy ;) Big family get togethers don't seem to happen like they used to. People are so busy and seem scattered all over the place. Have a great week :)

  7. The family gatherings you remember sound exactly like what Tom remembers! Love the random thought, but more so, what you've said about Alexa. Going there right now!

  8. The first one and the last one cracked me up! Guess that tells you something about my sense of humor lol. I think those big family get togethers ended in the 90s for us too, I miss those days too. Have a great afternoon :)

  9. #1 is pretty funny. I don't have Alexa, and I better not get one if it does that. In this house we'd never get anything else done! Men just love that sound for some reason. LOL. I also miss the good old days when families got together on a more regular basis. Seems like when the older generations die off, everyone seems to go their own way. We try to maintain holidays and birthdays as much as possible, but this year was a washout. Hoping we can make up for it at least on Thanksgiving... we shall see...

  10. Flax seeds: don't buy the actual seeds. Get the ground up kind and add that to meatballs, meatloaf, etc. The whole seeds go right thru the digestive system and there's not much nutritional benefit that way. The ground up flax seeds are an easy way to add more nutrition to your diet and you can't taste them.

  12. My, Alexa has quite a range of skills, lol! Cute photo funny. Families are so spread out now and it's a major ordeal to plan a gathering although COVID has certainly put a stop, hopefully temporary, on even that.

  13. So Alexa has the humor of a sixth grade boy! LOL. She doesn't come into my house.
We have just moved nearer our daughters and grandchildren, trying to restart the weekly family dinners. Hopefully, after COVID, people will remember the value of family and friends meeting together.
