Yesterday's Tuesday 4 questions and Annie's answer about the Asbury Park carousel got me thinking about some of the beautiful carousels I have ridden in my life. Hands down, the one at Conneaut Lake Park in Conneaut Lake, PA had the most interesting and beautiful figures. The toughest thing was deciding which one to ride. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of my own, except for the ones of Mom and I riding 4 years ago.
A search of the web turned up a lot of great photos, though, so today I thought I'd share these magnificent steeds with you. Enjoy!
WOWOWOWOWOW. Beautiful. I love a carosuel. The one in Chattanooga is just as nice, smiles.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to Google it!
DeleteThe giraffe and the llama are unique. I've never seen those before. Very cool. How are your sick ones? Still waiting on their tests?
ReplyDeleteYes, still waiting and our daughter appears to have a raging UTI either in addition to whatever or rather than something else. She is miserable. The doctor phoned in a prescription for an antibiotic today, but no one will see her, not even the emergency room until she gets her test results. Then if they are positive they won't see you anyway.
DeleteHave you looked at my picture on my post today yet? I was on a carousel like that in 1952, and when you said Conneaut Lake that rang a bell. Isn't that up near Lake Erie area? That may be where I was on that carousel. I know it was in PA. somewhere and that would make sense, since we lived in Clarion, PA at the time. Love these pictures and that makes me happy seeing them and thinking that is where I was all those many years ago!! I wish my mother was alive so I could ask her, but that stick in my brain and I think I am right. Thank you for solving that mystery today!
ReplyDeleteI did go look at the photo, Pam. I don't think it's the same carousel, but I can't be 100% sure. I could see a goat in the background, but it didn't look like it was the one here.
DeleteAw, your momma looks so cute! Love that smile.
ReplyDeleteAs a little kid I hated the merry-go-round. My dad finally discovered, I was holding my breath and making myself sick when the horse would go up and down. All was well once I remembered to breathe. LOL.
Oh my! You held your breath? Out of fear? I'm glad your dad figured it out!
DeleteThat llama looked real!!!
ReplyDeleteIt does! I'm sure there are prettier carousels somewhere, but I think this one is wonderful.
DeleteWell, I would ride that gray cat every time!! What a glorious carousel!! They are fun to ride and I especially love the ones with the loud organ music playing from the center! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. The one I shared here does indeed play organ music. The one at our local park does, too, and it was only as an adult that I came to realize...it plays hymns! The kitty is a cute ride. I'm not sure what I'd pick. Probably the Indian pony. When I was a kid it was ALWAYS the giraffe.
DeleteI love Carousels too and like to ride then whenever I can. I have been busy all day working on my Gratitude pages and organizing my crafty stuff. I am glad I took a minutes to see check out your post. I am glad I did!
ReplyDeleteThe artwork with those rides is just amazing. Very well done and colorful.
ReplyDeleteHope y'all have a blessed day. It's FREEZIN (48*) here in SE Georgia. Brrr! LOL
