Let's discuss summer this week...
1. What emotions and feelings does summer conjure up for you? Happiness, busy-ness, freedom...sort of a lightness in the soul. It always feels like a time of possibilities...when anything can happen. And as I get older, I find that summer seems to bring out more memories and nostalgia than any other time of year.
2. What's summer weather like in your neck of the woods? It's changed since I was a kid. These days we are often in the upper 80s (or hotter) and very, very humid. The beginning and end always seemed to be defined by lots of rain.
3. Got some special summer meals you and your family enjoy? Nothing in particular. We just cook on the grill a lot, eat salads, and fruit.
4. What do you enjoy doing in summer? Sports, trips.. do you go on vacation? I would love to go on trips, but my hubby is not very good at using his vacation time. We have only been on two actual vacations in the last decade. The eastern seashore is my happy place and I sure enjoy it when I can get there. It would be my dream to spend all my summers at the beach. Since I can't, I'm content to spend summers in the backyard...lounging in or by the pool and watching the grandkids play.
Thanks to Anne for the questions!
Hi Stacy, long time no see. Summer definitely brings lots of memories and nostalgia for me too. I hope all is well in your world. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm bad about using vacation time too... probably why we havent gone anywhere in 11 years - LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet memories to cherish. Having grown up in Central Florida then lived for 18 years in Northeast Florida, Summer just meant one thing: humidity. Ugh. Not my favorite thing. I think my favorite seasons are Spring and Autumn. Low humidity, heat, and no bugs. I'm so spoiled now. *lol*
ReplyDeleteBlessings. xx
I lived in Orlando for a couple of years and yes, HUMIDITY. Ugh. We are not quite that bad, but we are pretty humid up here in southwestern PA. I've never spent any time in Georgia so I don't know how it is there. In my mind it should be pretty darn hot and humid, too, but if you think you're spoiled, I guess I'm wrong.
DeleteYour childhood memories sound like something from The Wonder Years! With gasoline prices spiraling, I think more folks are going to be stay-cationing in their own backyards, too.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the Wonder Years, but they were pretty darn good. I feel bad for today's kids.
DeleteYes, summer is a great time of year! I love it because that means I get almost two whole months off! Sitting by the pool in the backyard listening to the grandkids play sounds so nice. Have a nice evening and I will see you again soon!
ReplyDeleteThis will be the first summer for that grandkid thing. They will be 4 and 2 this year so it's the first year they are really going to be running around out there. I can't wait!
DeleteI think you and I ought to rent a cottage and go on vacation, lol.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan!
DeleteI missed the T-4 today but enjoyed yours. Yes to the beach all summer!! xo
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be amazing?
DeleteHi Stacy:
ReplyDeleteSorry about my belated comment.
