Tuesday 4: Let's Get Cooking !

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 kept in memory of her.

Let's talk about food this week shall we?

1.What is/are your favorite meal(meals) to eat and to cook?  If I'm the one who has to do the cooking, I vote for easy recipes made in one pan, on one sheetpan, or in the slow cooker. Casserole type stuff. Comfort food. Roasts, stuffed peppers, chicken...I even did a shrimp boil in the slow cooker a couple of weeks ago! Talk about easy. That said, I do like to try new recipes and do that once every week or two.

2.How often do you cook at home and what kind of  meals do you make? We had gotten into a very bad habit of getting take-out when I was working full-time. I've been trying to be much better about it. I'm shooting for 5-6 nights a week. Some weeks it happens, some it doesn't. As for what kind of meals do it make, see #1.

3. When you go out to eat what foods do you find yourself ordering most?  I'm all over the place...seafood, Italian, Chinese, Mexican.

4. Can you recommend a restaurant in your area?  Why do you like it?  Of those closest to home, I'd probably recommend Don Patron's Mexican Restaurante. The food is excellent, the ambiance is cute and fun, the staff is really nice and they do a great job, and they have killer Margaritas!

Thanks Anne for keeping up the tradition & giving us the questions!

  1. Yes, I am a casserole and put-it-all-in-the-slow-cooker kind of cook too. With teaching all day, I am pretty tired when I get home. We do take out probably a couple of times a week. I love Mexican food and that restaurant sounds great, but, sadly, my husband isn't a fan of Mexican food. We get pizza and Chinese take-out quite a bit. I hope you week is going well. :-)

  5. I like to use the Crockpot in the winter. Your Don Patron's sounds like our Miguels.

  6. Great answer . Nothing wrong with good take out we all could use a break from cooking. Have a great week.

  7. What I wouldn't give for a good Mexican restaurant! I love Alabama, but these people don't know anything about authentic cuisine. One of these days I may have to break down and learn to prepare it myself. *sigh*

  9. We are winter casserole eaters, but not so much in the summer. I try to keep the oven usage to a minimum!

  10. I love casseroles and one pot meals - the husband, not so much. The Fall is when I tend to have more of these - summer is always fairy light.

I love to eat out - I'd go out more but we eat out about 3 times a month or so.
