A Frosty Thankful Thursday

It's a cold one this morning...
-4 on the thermometer outside my kitchen window. Brrr! It would be a good day to stay inside with the critters and curl up with a good book, but unless my client's parents don't want her out in this cold, I will be heading out in about an hour.

I'm linking up with bloggy friend Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand today for Thankful Thursday, our weekly chance to share all the goodness God's been showering on us through the week.

This week finds me thankful for...

** My warm, comfortable home...fuzzy socks...plenty of fleecy blankets...and my daughter who has started to do most of the snow shoveling for me.

** hot chocolate and games with Colton and Leah.

** an unexpected lunch out with Megan, the kids, and one of Tim's sisters.

** Tim's announcement that he's already made dinner reservations for Valentine's Day! Him planning ahead for anything is HUGE.

** committee meetings at my church are blissfully productive and short. If you've ever served on a church committee you probably understand just how long and unproductive they can be.

** all the plans for the marriage conference on Feb. 12 have been finalized, jobs are assigned, and it's all falling into place. It's going to be a wonderful event.

** Tim and I have found another show on Netflix that we can agree on. There are 8 seasons and we watch an episode or two each evening so we have a while to go. It's Blacklist by the way. Rather violent, but pretty good. It's along the lines of Criminal Minds.

** God keeps on teaching me what I need to learn...and has an infinite amount of patience with me.

** so many who've been ill recently and recovered.

** we continue to remain (relatively) healthy.

** the privileges that come with being born in the United States.

** all of you, of course!

  2. Wonderful list. -4 degrees!? Yowza, that's cold. I'm so glad you and Tim can get out in spite of the snow for V Day. I'm such a Florida girl I would be stranded. *lol* I wouldn't know how to drive in the fluffy white stuff. Now I want some hot chocolate too. *grin*
    Stay safe.
    Blessings xx

    1. I remember how Tim and I laughed at the folks in Florida when we lived there. 70 degrees and they were breaking out the winter coats while we were still in shorts.

    1. I'm glad the posts lift your spirits and you should definitely check out Blacklist. It's pretty violent, but the bad guy, who's kind of a good guy, says some of the best lines delivered totally deadpan and that saves it from being too dark for me.

  6. A great thankful list again this week, Stacy! Good for Tim planning ahead for his favorite Valentine!! I can't even imagine it being that cold outside anymore. We are going below freezing at night this weekend and that is so unusual for us. Hoping the farmers can keep the strawberries safe!! Joe and I watched Blacklist for the first five seasons or so. Then it went a bit wonky for me. He kept watching, though. Stay warm up there!! xo

    1. It's crazy to me how much cold weather the south seems to get the last few years. Seems like it's getting to be more of a regular thing. Heavens yes, Lord, please save the strawberries! I get the "wonky" thing...it seems like that happens to the majority of shows after a few years. I suppose we can blame it on the ratings game.

  7. I love your gratitude list. My hubby has been watching Blacklist for a couple of years now. He enjoys it. I have never watched it with him. That is so great that Tim has something special planned for Valentines. The marriage conference sounds super good. Glad that things are going well. Stay well and warm!

    1. Thanks, Deb. It is great that Tim has planned ahead. I'm kind of in shock that he thought of it this early. lol The marriage conference is going to be very good, I think. I get to go because I'm on the committee and I'm looking forward to it. The couple who are doing the speaking are very good, we have great food lined up from a classy local Italian place, and some pretty sweet prizes are coming together! It's meant to be an outreach event for young couples who may not know the Lord or have a church, but it's open to everyone. We have everyone from singles who want to know how to do it right before they get married to a couple that's been married 52 years!

  9. Lovely thankful list...especially in the -4 degrees weather! Yikes! We are worried about it getting down to 20 tomorrow morning! That's pretty cold for us old folks in Florida. I love that you are enjoying your church and the committee meetings, etc., and the marriage conference sounds like a wonderful thing. Also happy for you that your hubby already made plans for your Valentine's Day. That is something I would never ever expect to happen here...if I want to do something, I'd better plan it! LOL. Actually my hubby's b.d. is the 16th, so we usually focus on that instead, which is fine with me. I am happy you get to go out and do something special, however. You guys are still young and "romantic". That's sweet and keep it going as long as you can!! Take care and stay warm!!

  10. I keep trying to leave a comment and it doesn't seem to go through! I want to speak out in defense of Jasper. He's still so young, he's more adrenaline and sense. My cat Reynaldo was like Jasper. Rey was skinny and short-haired, a Heinz 57 as far away from a Maine Coon as you can get. To him, ALL attention was good attention. Reynaldo never completely calmed down, but when he matured he mellowed a bit which is why I can impart this from experience (though I know you may not believe me): When he outgrows this, you'll miss his wildman days. PS Give up with the counter thing. You'll never win. The most you can expect is that he won't do it when you're looking at him.

  11. Hi Stacy, I heard it is super cold and snowy your way. Praying you stay safe and warm. I have been busy with my Bible journaling and posted a lot of pictures at my blog. Have a great week!
