To pass some time I'm linking up with Joyce over @ From This Side of the Pond for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.
1. Expect the unexpected on From This Side of the Pond. Here's my x-ray question...when was the last time you felt like Superman? What's your superpower? Explain. Hmm...my superpower isn't answering questions. This one is making my head hurt. Ha! Like Superman...maybe at work. It sort of made me feel like that when I knew what to do to calm down a dementia resident or diffuse a situation. If I have a superpower, I think it's being calm and reasonable and getting others to calm down, too.
2. Are you a fan of the 'superhero' type movies? If so what's your favorite? Not really, but I do like me some Aquaman!
3. Have you postponed or cancelled a trip to the dentist in recent weeks, and if so when do you think you'll feel comfortable going back? How about other routine medical procedures? I haven't cancelled, but I've put off calling for an appointment since I'm not in pain (my dentist is somehow able to stay open). I'm going to have to call soon, though. I've had 2 old fillings fall out while this has been going on and they both took some of the tooth with them. I need to see my pc, too, but it's not quite as pressing.
4. What's something that makes you feel youthful? Something that makes you feel 'not so youthful'? Tell us why. Hanging out with my friends and having a good time usually makes me feel young-ish. My kids make me feel old. Both of them have a knack for making me feel like I've got one foot in the nursing home and the other on a banana peel.
5. I feel compelled to include some sort of corona related question in the HP these days. What's the strangest thing you've seen in relation to the virus? Something that really struck you as odd, made you stop and think, 'Dorothy we're not in Kansas anymore?' What doesn't make a person feel that way these days? There are so many crazy theories and accusations and what's right or wrong or the best thing to do changes from morning to afternoon and the whole mess has turned into just one more thing to draw dividing lines over.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Tim has been back to work for a week now and glad of it. Our governor is loosening the lockdown on a few things this week. All construction projects can reopen on Friday as long as they follow safe guidelines. Golf courses, marinas, and campgrounds will also be opening, but no more stores, restaurants, or hair salons. I didn't understand his logic in determining "essential" businesses when he closed down the state and I sure don't understand his logic for what gets to reopen, either. It's okay, though. Whatever happens I trust God to work things out the way he wants them.
Hmm...and I thought PA was working with NY? I guess not? Cuomo is not loosening any power err I mean strings.
ReplyDeleteHA! I picked Aquaman too. Hey, have a great day friend. smiles
You have good taste in superheroes. :D
DeleteWell being calm and helping others become or remain calm is definitely a super power! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you. It comes in handy at times.
DeleteNow why was I not surprised to see Aquaman here. (*smile*)
ReplyDeleteI definitely believe your ability to remain calm in any situation is a super-power. If I ever had to abandon ship I hope you'll be in my lifeboat.
Yeah...for a fish-man he's pretty hot! Ha!
DeleteWell, I hope we're never in a lifeboat, but if we are stick close.
I'm a mostly calm sort too and the world needs us : ) I'm so glad your hubs was able to return to work. I'm in SC and we're re-opening things too. No restaurants yet or salons, but beaches, parks, public boating and some retail. I know retailers need to reopen but are people out shopping? I guess some are. Stay well!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about here because nothing is open but grocery stores and stores like Walmart and Target and Lowe's. I will say that all of those are PACKED every day. They are trying to limit it, but I don't know if they aren't trying that hard or people just aren't listening.
DeleteTexas is beginning to reopen also, I hope it all goes well and people go by the guidelines given. Sad to say, no beauty shops can open yet....why???? :) I think this whole thing has turned into a political issue. :(
ReplyDeleteI get the beauty shops...too much close contact...but I will be one happy camper when they do open.
DeleteHahaha..."one foot in the nursing home and the other on a banana peel." I agree with you on the lack of logic on what was closed and how it reopens. I've given up trying to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteYep, all it does is get me worked up and give me a headache for nothing.
DeleteFlorida is slowly reopening... parks and golf courses this week. Elective surgeries allowed next week, which works out good for me! Joyce gave us another fun Hodgepodge!
ReplyDeleteHooray for the surgeries starting up just in time!
DeleteHello Stacy. I enjoyed reading your answer and was chuckling about how your kids make you feel. Thank goodness we believe God is in control.
ReplyDeleteThat is for sure. I don't know how those who don't know him can cope with stuff the world is flinging at us lately.
DeleteAquaman... I cant believe I've never seen that yet!!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you need to fix that!
DeleteIt's too bad Governor Wolf doesn't explain himself better. Here in IL, Governor Pritzker is very plain spoken in his regular press conferences. When we begin reopening, it will NOT be based on essential vs non-essential but rather, what can be done while maintaining safe social distancing. That's why salons will likely be among the last to reopen here. Construction workers are back on the job already. Dentists here have *always* been open for emergencies, just like doctors are. I haven't been perplexed by anything Pritzker has told us, or the reasoning behind any of his decisions. We're so fortunate to have him. Considering how skeptical I was during the campaign and right after his election -- IL has notoriously bad luck with governors! -- this is a most pleasant surprise! (And yes, I agree 100% God is in control. Every day I try not to disappoint Him.)
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice. He was not a favorite of mine even before this. He taxes us to death year after year...while nothing ever seems to improve.
DeleteTexas is opening up a little on Friday. It's hard to be a leader and even harder now. I agree with your statement - it's just one more thing to be divided about. I am happy for the country to be getting back to work and as an older couple, we will continue to take precautions and stay home.
ReplyDeleteI think you are handling it just right since you are in a higher risk group. I do hope, though, that as everything begins to reopen all across the country we don't get a huge second wave as some predict.
DeleteOh the politics of this whole thing can be exhausting and so frustrating regardless the party to which you belong. And aren't we glad that an omnipotent God is the one really in control and nothing happens without going through Him.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Libby, amen.
