Watching... In the Heat of the Night. I watched it the first time around and enjoyed it, but it was never a show that seemed to turn up in reruns so while the characters are familiar, the stories are not. I find myself amazed at the heavy topics the show tackled in every episode...the cocaine and crack epidemics, racial tensions, union walkouts, rape, the good ol' boy mentality of Mississippi in the 80's vs. changing times and laws, ethical challenges of the police. It is really good, even 30 years later.
Listening to... Alexa is entertaining me with Billy Joel.
Loving... the sunshine. It's always so cloudy here that a sunny day is like like a shot in the arm of instant energy and good cheer.
Celebrating... my mom coming outside to talk to us yesterday WITHOUT A MASK! We still practiced social distancing, but it was a huge deal. I haven't seen the bottom half of her face since before this all began nearly 2 months ago.
Thinking about... this being the last week that Pennsylvania is under total shelter at home orders. A few waivers were granted last week for construction, golf courses, boating, camping, and guided fishing/boating tours. On Friday, the northcentral and northwest regions will begin to roll back a lot of bans. They were chosen because the low number of cases and deaths.
I am curious how it will go since reports of this weekend's openings showed that in many cases people are not practicing social distancing. Golf courses were crowded and many campgrounds were full. Our region most likely will have to wait another couple of weeks for the bans to lift. I suspect we will be the next to last, just before the entire eastern side of the state which includes Philadelphia and has seen the majority of the state's cases.
Feeling... energized! It's the sunshine.
Grateful... that I can still say that all those I know and love remain virus-free and that all have been fortunate not to be among those who are having trouble getting their unemployment benefits or stimulus money. None of them are struggling financially.
Enjoying... all the time I have to spend with the two youngest grands, though I wish I saw more of the older ones.
A couple of virus funnies I want to share...
We had some openings and then the governor came back and made some changes, so I don't really know what's going on right now. lol
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, Cuomo isn't budging off his high horse. ANYWAYS, it was very nice yesterday (72* and sunny), today not so much; cloudy and quite chilly (42*). I hope you have a great day, Stacy.
ReplyDeleteOur one restaurant in town reopened today. We will go for lunch tomorrow to meet some church friends. It will interesting to see how they seat us with the social distancing, etc. I don't care...I just want to go out to eat and be waited on! LOL. Take care and stay focused on "the sunny side of life". It will help make these days go by better.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post!! Loved every word and all the funnies!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I am going to HOBBY LOBBY!!!! Yes, I AM!!! Here in Waco since McLennan County has less than 100 cases of Covid 19 and Dallas County has 4,343! Our plan is stay home in the city and do our shopping when we are in the country!
Your last meme may be the truest thing I've seen in weeks! So glad your mom's overcoming her fears. Our ladies Bible study practiced social distancing out in the church's garden this morning, and while no-one was wearing a mask we all had them there in our bags.
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard about the murder hornets, I was like, Yep... that's about right.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to see your momma!
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI am in Pennsylvania too, and we are supposed to be moving into yellow Friday.
I thought about those hornets too!
What is even going on??
Stay safe and cozy.
Love that last one especially!! I saw someone say that the new emoji is southern and means "Bless your heart!". Made me laugh!!
