Yesterday:
We celebrated Colton's birthday with a small family party. No big blowout, because. Covid. Can't believe he is 4 already! He's growing up so fast. He was happy and was thrilled with his gifts...didn't even notice the party wasn't as big as usual. Kids have a way of putting it all in perspective.
Good news...
Mom and John braved all of us and the danger of Covid to come to Colton's birthday party. They said they are moving back to Mom's house on Tuesday. Thank goodness! I didn't want to have to worry about them being stranded up on the mountain this winter. They are also planning on being with us on Christmas Day. Yay!
On today's list...
Finish the Christmas cards. (Tim's family had the bright idea that we should send every child in the family their own personal card. That's another 14 cards.)
Run to Dollar General for a few gift bags. I'm wrapping this year, but I have a couple of gifts where wrapping paper just isn't going to cut it.
Buy 5 lbs of frozen meatballs. I am making a crock pot full of them for my Bible study's Christmas party tomorrow night. I made them one year with the grape jelly and chili sauce and now they are requested every year. Five pounds gives me enough to hold back to make for our Christmas next week.
Laundry. Always. Sigh. I thought it would get better with no kids at home.
Make more chocolate covered pretzels and candy. Maybe. Megan and I were supposed to spend Friday doing that, but she didn't come over till 11:00 and, of course, had the kiddos with her. We got it all set up and started, but she kept finding things she needed to do other than fill molds. Then the kids wanted lunch. After that Megan decided she needed to go do some shopping before the new restrictions went into effect. She got my mom to come watch the kids so I got a little bit more done, but Mom only stayed an hour. Megan didn't come back until 6:00, so more than anything I watched the kids. I want to get the candy and pretzels done before I start on cookies. I hate switching back and forth.
This week...
Megan finally gets the MRI at 7:45 A.M. on Wednesday. She's been waiting forever to get in. It's needed to see exactly the size and placement of her cysts and fibroid tumor so the doctor can determine which type of hysterectomy she will have to have. Please, pray it's the easy one!
And now I'd best get busy on that long list of mine. Have yourselves a blessed and happy Monday...and keep the real reason for the season in your hearts!
Colton is so cute. Hoping you're able to accomplish all you want to today.
ReplyDeleteI did a good bit, but put off the candy for another day.
DeleteLifting up prayers that its going to be a simple & quick procedure for the hysterectomy
ReplyDeleteChocolate covered pretzels... I need to make some of those myself. Trying to find some things to bake next week for sweet treats...because I need to gain another 10 lbs for the holidays- LOL
I've been trying to find the kind of caramel you melt and use in candy and baking. There is none to be found anywhere. I need it because a niece gave me a recipe for chocolate-pretzel-salted caramel bark.
DeleteOh m'gosh, you must be exhausted. I was close to becoming overwhelmed just reading. So glad your mom and John joined you; one less thing to worry about, their being back 'home.' Happy Birthday, Colton!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the birthday wishes for Colt. I'm not too tired. I put the candy making off for another day.

DeleteWhat a fun party!
ReplyDeleteHe is a cutie!
Prayers for your intentions.
Are you getting any of the snow headed our way?!?!
Have a cozy evening!
Thank you. I think there's a chance we will see snow tomorrow evening.
DeleteIt sounds like you've been quite busy to me. I am basically being too lazy for my own good...just wanting to "play" and not getting much done. Tomorrow I will shop til I drop, which might be after an hour. LOL. The old gray mare she ain't what she used to be many long years ago. Enjoy your family as much as you can. This year has been too hard on families. Have a very Merry Christmas. No matter what!!
ReplyDeleteThis old (hiding the) gray mare isn't quite what she used to be, either. I still have big ideas, but the body doesn't always feel like following through. Fortunately, I finally learned that whatever gets done is enough because nobody else notices all that little stuff I care about.
DeleteHooray for your good news!! Sorry about the party-goer's tumble but glad it wasn't the birthday boy! He is just SO cute! Prayers for Megan and please keep us posted. I love pretzels covered in white melting chocolate! Yum! I cheated and bought some this year. Cookies later this week. I want to give some away and have little boxes and bags to put them in. I'm glad your folks will be there for the holidays!! xo
ReplyDeleteI've done a few pretzels in white chocolate, but the white stuff isn't melting very well this year. I've tried adding some oil and everything and it's still sort of gloppy and hardens really fast. I may do some bark with it or reindeer bait (a snack mix) because the gloppiness won't matter.
DeleteLooks like Colton had a good birthday. Sorry about Sarah's tumble but sounds like she will be OK.
ReplyDeleteGlad your Mom and John will be there on Christmas Day. I know that means a lot.
Sounds like you have Christmas under control.
Have a great day my friend.
Happy Birthday Colton, looks like he had a great party. Hope little Sarah isn't too sore, send her a feel better ((hug)).
ReplyDeleteColton and the others look like they are having a blast!
