Last night my Bible study group had its Christmas party. What a wonderful and blessed time. We didn't break up to come home until nearly midnight. I got some wonderful pampering gifts...soothing lavender eye mask and one for the back (they can be put in the freezer for cold use or microwaved for warming), lovely scented epsom salt to soak in, a "Daughter of the King" mug, an ornament with my name and my One word for 2020 printed on it, and a pretty handcrafted decoration. More than anything it was just so nice to get together with these lovely women again and talk, laugh, and share.
This morning I picked my daughter up at 7:15 and got her over to the hospital for her MRI. I just waited in the car. It wasn't too bad, only an hour.
I had plans to join in with the Wednesday Hodgepodge when I got home and then get busy baking cookies.
Yeah....not happening.
It was a rough night. I woke up sometime between 2:00-2:30 this morning with a very painful leg cramp (this is what I get for "bragging" to Tim the other day that I hadn't had any in quite a while). As I moved to get up from the bed to stretch the muscle, a cramp struck my other leg! Both were severe, the kind that leave me feeling nauseated and panting.
I remember standing beside the bed at one point, bent over with my head on the bed.
Then I have no idea what happened.
The next thing I knew Tim was yelling at me to stay put he was coming to help me. Him tugging on my arm. Then telling me to wait while he turned on the light. I was tired and out of it and like, "okay." I had no idea why he was helping me.
When the light came on I realized that I was lying on the floor wedged between the bed and the nightstand. Tim said I slid off the bed, but I'm thinking I went down harder than that. I don't know if I fainted for the first time in my life or if I fell asleep standing by the bed, but somehow I toppled over and there I was.
I'm really stiff and sore today which is why I think I must have gone down hard. My left side (the one I was lying on) is more sore than most of me, but my right ankle is aching and my left knee keeps locking up and threatening to take me down again...so I must have twisted it.
Anyway, it's cold, windy, and we're supposed to end up with about a foot of snow by midnight so I am curled up on the sofa with the Poodle watching Netflix. And that's all I'm planning to do today.
I was going to say I'm so glad you had such a good night... but that took a dramatic turn!!! Hope you dont get more sore as the days go on :(
ReplyDeleteYeah, really. It was rather unexpected. LOL
DeleteOh my goodness Stacy! I hope you're OK now? That's terrible. I used to get terrible, mind-numbing leg cramps and/or toe cramps too. I can sympathize. Can't tell ya why I haven't gotten one in a long, long time. Do take care.
ReplyDeleteBlessings. xx
(PS: I'm in FB jail again and will be MIA from there for at least 7 days. Not ignoring ya.)
You're in FB jail again! You must have an enemy that keeps reporting your posts. Want me to bake you a cake with a file in it? :) I'm doing okay. Still sore in spots, but I ended up having to suit up and go to my daughter's this afternoon to do some babysitting and then I had to shovel snow so the Poodle could potty. Two hours later I had to shovel again...6 inches in 2 hours. Tim didn't make it home until 8:00! As for the cramps, I've been getting them since I was a freshman in college. I think last night the problem was that I got cold. That will do it.
DeleteOh my gosh, Stacy! I would say you must have gone down hard it it woke Tim up! It is great that you had such a good time with your Bible study group, though, and can pamper yourself a bit while you body heals. Keep us posted, dear friend! xo
ReplyDeleteI'm doing okay tonight, Terri. I'm still a bit sore in places, but I've had to shovel snow twice...pretty sure we've got at least a foot of the stuff at this point and it's still coming down. No where to go tomorrow. I'm not even going to dig my car out...just clear the path and a spot for the dog to potty.
DeleteOh my, those leg cramps can be so so brutal. I don't think I've had any that bad, however. I'm glad you are okay, all things considered. I wonder if you take a statin for cholesterol, and if so, do you take Co Q 10? I learned the hard way that you have to take the latter if you take the former. But it could be some other reason...and I know it hurts. I hope you can just enjoy watching the snow. How much do you have by now? Be careful and I hope you don't have to go anywhere else! Take some pictures of the snow tomorrow so we can see it! (if you feel up to it, of course.) I pray you sleep well tonight.
ReplyDeleteI've been plagued by cramps for years. It's only been in the last 2 or 3 years that they're occasionally so bad they make me feel sick...I think it's since I had heat exhaustion at our daughter's wedding. That caused both of my legs to cramp from the tips of my toes to my hips and NOTHING relieved it. I just had to keep drinking fluids and massage them. It's been since then that they've gotten severe, but I guess the trade off is that I don't get them as often. I don't take anything for cholesterol. A friend who is a podiatrist suggested drinking tonic water because of the quinine, but I can't stand it. I've tried mixing it with everything and just can't deal with the bitterness. Lots of snow here...at least a foot at this point. It's "supposed" to be stopping by midnight. It dumped a good 6 inches on us from 5:30-7:30. I've had to go out and clear the walks and a spot for the pup twice this evening and will probably have to do it again before bed. #littledogproblems I've got some pictures from tonight and I'll take a couple in the morning so you'll get your snow fix!
DeleteOh no! What a scary episode! I hope you'll be safe and snug during your major storm.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kwiz. Yep, been snug all day except for watching the grands for a little bit and having to shovel a path and spot for the Poodle to go potty twice this evening. Tomorrow her spot will be dug out in the morning and then I plan to go absolutely nowhere all day. It might even turn out to be a pj's kind of day.
DeleteStacy - That sounds frightening. I do hope you feel better soon. So glad you had a nice time with your Bible Study Group. See you again soon.
ReplyDeleteOh my Stacy, I am glad you are okay. I can't imagine having pain like that. I do lose feeling in my legs. I don't have any rear padding and sometimes my brittle bones cut off my circulation. Like my dad said, aging sucks! Please get lots of rest. Hugs
