In Latrobe...
a cloudy and a balmy 46 degrees. Rain, a cool down, and possibly a bit of snow are on the way.
Reading...
not a darn thing. I've been too busy until now. I'll choose something new today.
Listening to...
the silence. Tim's back to work and I'm alone for the first time in 5 days. I am enjoying it and being a total slug. Still in my jammies at 10:00!
Celebrating...
a response from our son to our Christmas wishes. We texted "Merry Christmas" and he responded in kind. Not much, but more than we expected!
Christmas Eve...
we went to the home of our friends (and my Bible study teachers) for dinner with them and 3 other friends. We had a wonderful time chatting and relaxing.
Christmas Day...
was spent at our daughter's home with her family and my mom and stepdad. Everyone seemed pleased with what they got...in most cases, exactly what they hoped for. Sorry there aren't too many good pictures of the day. Our little Leah was really tuckered out from two days of excitement and neither grand was in the mood to have pictures taken.
The kiddos got right into opening gifts!
|
We got Leah a big Sven from the Disney "Frozen" movies. He can hold up to 70 lbs. of kid and he's interactive. He talks, eats his carrot, and is just too cute. Leah and Colton both really loved him.
|
Granddog, Abby, and grandkitty, Seneca,
liked their presents. Abby ate some treats
and wore her sweater all day. Seneca has played
with her new toys nonstop (the other kitty hasn't
shown any interest). We think it's her first intro
to catnip...and we've created a monster!
Megan and Cody's new flannel sheets
also earned Abby's seal of approval.
Leah modeling the sweater my mom made for her.
She wouldn't let me get a picture of her in the hat
Mom knit. Colton got a beautiful sweater with an owl
and a snake scarf...also knit by Mom. No posing
from him, either.
Colton received a Mickey Mouse waffle maker.
Mommy and Daddy got him some Capt. Crunch
berry waffle mix and matching blue syrup
and he thought it was the bestest!
Pappy and Leah chilling when all the
excitement was over and done.
A very nice family photo of the kids
from their Christmas Eve celebration
with Cody's family.
The biggest surprise...
Tim and I each sent a "Merry Christmas" text to our son. He answered us both back with the same. Not much, but definitely more than we expected, so....HUGE.
Some gifts...
an InstaPot (let the cooking adventures/failures begin), a new radio/CD player, a new desk and chair for my office, cash, and a cute little card catalog styled storage box for my desk (a little something from Megan and Cody until the shutdown lifts and they can take me for my real gift...dinner at Guy Fieri's new restaurant).
Tim's days off...
were quiet other than the Christmas thing. He is still having a lot of issues and not feeling quite right after that prostate procedure. He's called the office and the desk person has given him the runaround putting him off because he has an appointment Jan. 15th. He's supposed to call and be more pushy today. We think he has a UTI or another bladder stone or something. Something he shouldn't have to wait so long to be seen over.
Cooking...
Ha! Haven't done any since Christmas Day. We've been living on all the goodies and leftovers...and one ordered pizza. I suppose I should make something different tonight. Tomorrow, since it will be colder, I'm going to make a big pot of ham and bean soup to share with Mom and my stepdad. Megan's family won't eat it or I'd include them.
Looking forward to...
all the stuff being delivered this week...my desk and chair, a headboard for our bed, my new planner, a storage cabinet for the bathroom (Tim has started to keep all his stuff on the sink rather than come back to the bathroom in our room to shave and such), a new Bible study book (I really didn't care for verse mapping...at least not the way the study of Luke was done...maybe just added to my own study it would be okay), more planner stickers, a cool water bottle that reminds me to drink and breaks it down into manageable amounts, and a set of strength building bands.
Waiting for...
God to give me my word for the year. A couple have come to mind, but I need some confirmation.
That's all that's happening here. Have a great week, my friends, and let's all pray that next year is a much better one for this world of ours!
God has given me the word hope. He gave me peace for 2020 which is exactly what I needed. I will write about my word on the Tuesday 4. I am so happy that your son responded to you. I am sure that was a blessing for your mother's heart. What planner did you get. The craft group I am in will be using and A5 and I do have one. But I may head to Hobby Lobby to see what they have using a gift card. What kind of desk did you get? I enjoyed the pictures but the one with the grands on Sven is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good word. Several, but not all, of my Bible study group have their word and so far it seems God is giving more upbeat words than last year...more words of blessing than anything. I could go for that! I got a Passion Planner. Rebecca Jo convinced me.
DeleteI love that photo of Leah on the reindeer soooo much! And from the look on Colton's face, I'd sure be tempted to join him in some Mickey waffles. (Wondering why we never had cool stuff like blue syrup when I was a kid.) So glad your son responded; hopefully, that ice floe will thaw and your relationship rekindle. Your gifts sound wonderful ... obviously, you were a very good girl!
ReplyDeleteI wonder why we never had cool things like the kids have all the time! The Mickey waffles would be fine, but I'm not too sure about blue syrup. lol We can hope the ice thaws.
DeleteI enjoyed your post, Stacy! It seems like you all had a great Christmas celebration and you have some very nice deliveries scheduled! Keep us posted!! Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terri! I'm sure you'll be hearing about the deliveries. What else am I going to talk about?
DeleteWow! What a great Christmas celebration! Love that reindeer! That is amazing! And the Mickey waffle maker thingy...what fun for kids. So happy your son at least responded. It's a start. God is working. I am still waiting for my "one word" for 2021 as well. Nothing is hitting me just yet. Take care and enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteSven is so cute and cool. I would have looooooved him when I was a kid. Well, kids...but I'd like Mickey waffles, too. It is indeed a start. We truly didn't expect even that. I didn't find my word today. I'm hopeful that I will continue the trend that seems to taking place among the members of my Bible study group. All the words so far seem to be words of blessing more than the hard topics of this year. A year of peace, joy, and blessing would be awfully nice.
DeleteSounds like you all had a really nice Christmas! So glad you heard back from your son...definitely a step in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is! Thanks, Cathy. Hope you have a great week!
DeleteHi Stacy. So glad you at least got a return text from your son. That is all we got from our oldest son. He is hit and miss on texting. Exchanged several texts with second oldest daughter and then actually got a Marco Polo message from her and her whole family, so that was nice. Not a peep from oldest daughter. Heart breaking, but her choice. Looks like yo had lots of fun with your grands on Christmas so that is great! I think I know my word and will be posting later in the week. Glad you had a relaxing day! See you again soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had some connection with your son and daughter. We are looking at things with our son the same as you are with your oldest daughter...we have done nothing wrong, it is his choice. We did have lots of fun with the grands. They are at the perfect age for Christmas...so excited and joyful! I will post on my word whenever I get it. Still nothing.
DeleteSo I think I need a Mickey Mouse waffle maker now :)
ReplyDeleteThat Sven is AMAZINGGGGGG!!!! I have a Sven ornament & he's one of my favorites on my trees.
Glad you had a wonderful time with family ... & I'm sure that quiet this morning was heavenly
Ha! How did I not think of how impressed you would be by Mickey waffles and Sven? To be honest, I wouldn't mind a Mickey waffle maker myself. Isn't Sven just the cutest thing? And actually...my quiet morning turned into a quiet day. I usually have a kind of shutdown day the day after Christmas, but this year it was today. Probably because Tim went back to work. Megan and the kids didn't even come around all day.
