The weather...is kind of a mess. I woke up to a layer of frozen sleet on the ground and a light rain. The forecast is for a high of 41 degrees with rainy/snowy weather. Good for melting the snow. Not good because if the pool thaws out we need to get water pumped off the top before more rain adds to it. Also not good because Tim's on that new project, which is still in the earth-moving stage. He will be a mud monster when he gets home.

Reading...Nothing right now. I finished Sunset Beach by Mary Kay Andrews on Saturday. Next on my list is Follow Me to Alaska: A true story of one couple's journey from a cul-de-sac in El Paso, Texas, to an off-grid cabin in the wilderness of Alaska by Ann Parker.

Listening to...the rain/melting snow dripping off the roof outside the window by my desk and the occasional gust of howling wind.

New around here...The new dryer finally got delivered and hooked up on Friday and has been working steadily. Also arrived on Friday, rather unexpectedly, was the new kitchen island. Two ginormous, heavy boxes...dumped right in the gateway of the deck. An hour before the dryer delivery was due. I couldn't even get off the deck to take Daisy out, let alone anyone get in. Panic! Thankfully, Megan came over and between the two of us we got the boxes as far as the kitchen. Trust me, it wasn't pretty. I'm glad we got it done, though, as I was afraid the guys from Lowe's would take one look and say they couldn't deliver and take the dryer back to the store.

Tim put the island together yesterday and it looks nice and works with the new stools. I love that the new island has a stainless steel worktop so I can make cookies or whatever right on it and not have to worry. The old island is going to Megan's basement to be a craft table. I'm still working on rearranging cabinets because the new island has so much more storage.

Megan's health...was getting steadily worse again. By yesterday she was so achy and miserable Cody finally took her to Med Express. They decided it was the pain pills she got for the kidney stone reacting to the Cymbalta. Apparently, it is a known thing that you should not take other pain meds or even ibuprofen when you are taking Cymbalta. The same pharmacy fills all her prescriptions. I'm a little worried that the pharmacist didn't say, hey these two things don't go together. Even Walmart's pharmacy does that.

She does have to call her doctor today because the cyst in her breast has gotten very inflamed and tender. Med Express said it's infected and will probably have to be removed. Whether that's an office procedure or a surgery depends. She doesn't know if it was also caused by the drug interaction or something else.

Sunday...I didn't go to church because we had dinner with Mom, John, Megan, Cody, and the kids. I had a 23 pound turkey in the freezer and Tim mentioned last weekend that we should cook it. So that's what we did yesterday. We had your typical Thanksgiving meal. And you know, that's a lot of time to prepare. It was so good, though, and there are plenty of leftovers so I don't have to cook tonight.

Today's to-do list...is pretty short. Laundry. Always laundry. And as soon as I finish up here, it's back to work on the lesson I'm teaching in tomorrow night's Bible study. We are currently meeting via Zoom so it's going to be a new experience. I'm usually pretty quiet during our classes this way, just concentrating on hearing what is taught and not being distracted by what everyone is doing or the weird sound things that happen with Zoom. Now I'm going to be doing most of the talking. Say a prayer for me. I'm teaching about how to make godly choices when voting.

On the calendar this week...I have class tomorrow night and Daisy goes to the groomer tomorrow morning, but otherwise, it's looking like a slow week. That could change at any time, though. Megan may end up needing me to babysit because of health issues or Mom might need something. She is seeing her doctor tomorrow with the hope that he will schedule her knee replacement. We don't know if they are doing elective surgeries right now or not. She is hoping so as the pain is getting worse.

Well, that's all that's happening here and time is slipping away from me, so I'd better get to work. Happy Monday! Have a blessed week.

  2. Hi Stacy. Glad you got both your new kitchen island and your new dryer. Your delivery story reminds me of something that happened some years back when we were having our bathroom redone at our house in California. Delivery people delivered our heavy shower door and dropped it off so it was blocking our front door. I had to "manhandle" it into the garage by myself. I was not happy, but then the contractor got mad at me for moving it! Really?? Oh well, seems like there are always delivery nightmares. Glad it all turned out OK. I hope your daughter gets feeling better soon. Sound like she is having a really challenge with her health right now. She will be in my prayers. have a good week.

  3. Glad you got your new island and new dryer. The delivery sounds like a nightmare, but it's got to feel good to have it installed and everything working. Hope you daughter feels better soon and your mom gets that knee surgery. Take care and have a good day.

  4. Hello! Snow up here! It hasn't let up since early morning. Prayers for you and all your intentions. We are in that stage of life where we love and care for several generations, aren't we? I remember my mom doing the same with my gram, myself and my sisters, and our children. I wondered more than once how she did it! Now I know. You just do it. Because you love them. Hugs!

  5. So sorry to hear about Megan. She must be miserable, poor dear. I pray she heal soon. Please tell her to give up sugar and carb's. It will help alleviate the pain. Sugar is an irritant in our arteries and causes heart disease. I know. Been there, done that. And I feel so much better after giving those two things up, plus I lost 40 lbs slowly over one year. That really helped with my arthritis pain.
Yay on the dryer! That is good news.
    Blessings. xx

  6. You really have a lot going on! Praying for your daughter Megan. I do hope they can get things straightened out and help her with her pain and other issues. She sounds like she is miserable, poor girl. So wonderful you are able to help out with the children. Your new island sounds really nice. You need to take some pictures now that it is in the kitchen! Between the deliveries, weather, family issues, etc, I don't know how you manage to stay "sane"...I know it is God...but still just seems like a lot is going on for you all. Praying for God to give you strength and peace and praying for Megan especially.

    1. I jokingly told my Bible study group that with my word for the year being abundant, I was prepared to learn to count it all as joy even if my abundant turned out to be abundant trials. I'm beginning to think the Lord has decided to take me up on that!
