Thankful Thursday

Good morning! The sun is shining, the government finally passed the stimulus package, and we are managing...it's a great day to be alive and a great day to show some gratitude to our Maker for all the blessings he has given us. You can join in with Thankful Thursday by linking up with Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand.

This week I am thankful...

** all of my family and friends remain healthy.

** the bathroom re-do is finally getting finished with Tim being at home all day, every day.

** for all that earlier mentioned sunshine! It's been so gray and gloomy, which didn't really improve the mood we are all in these days.

** I am getting all kinds of cleaning and organizing done.

** for a huge stack (okay, multiple stacks) of books to read. The new James Rollins book in the Sigma Force series, The Last Odyssey, arrived yesterday. I can't wait to dive into it!

** for all the fun and creative ways people are finding to stay in touch and express their talents and creativity while we are hunkering down.

** to no longer be working at the nursing home. I miss the residents and some of my co-workers, but I do not miss my boss, the stress the on-going financial problems are causing everyone, or the stress and worry the virus would strike and we'd all end up quarantined at the home.

** our family was able to have one last family gathering on Sunday, a day before our son's family became subject to a mandatory "stay at home" order.

** for exercise DVD's I can pop in at home and get my body moving. I did my Body Groove workout this morning and it felt sooooo good after days of kind of being a slug.

** for how great everyone is being about social distancing when I do have to go to the store. People are being patient and taking turns walking down aisles and such to keep that 6 ft. buffer space.

** for all those who are risking their own health every day to care for the sick.

** for all those who are working to keep us supplied with the items we need.

** a call from our tax preparer brought good news. WE DON'T OWE!!

** for the plant stand and house plants I bought just a few weeks ago. Just looking at them brings me joy.

** for birds singing so loud in the mornings we can hear them inside over the noise of the television. Spring really is coming!!

** Joyce chose to bring back The Wednesday Hodgepodge yesterday. Judging from all the participation, we've all been missing it and it helped ease the isolation a bit, too.

** as always, for all of you. Social media has been a saving grace during these difficult days. The community seems to have grown stronger as we're all home and hungry for social interaction.

  1. Indeed, social media at this point has been saving grace, so to speak. So, when can I expect you to come clean and organize my house? (lololol, just teasing) Sigh, I am less motivated to dust, which really needs to be done, smiles.

HEY! I hope you have a beautiful day, regardless of the gloomy weather (same here, sigh.)

    1. The joke's on you Linda. I didn't mention DUSTING anywhere in that list of things getting done. Gah, I hate dusting, but it's really needing done here, too.

  2. I'm grateful that I can walk on wooded paths behind our house. And also for family all together at home. I don't take any of these blessings for granted, and maybe that's the biggest benefit of this health crisis.

    1. They sure are. My husband even commented on them today and that's not the sort of thing he usually pays attention to.

  4. I'm grateful to you, Stacy -- reminding us to cherish life's simple pleasures. I rememeber someone once said, "This is your extraordinary ordinary life: Pay attention!"

  5. We are getting a lot of cleaning and organizing done around here too. Our first chore - the basement. We have lived in this house for 30+ years and somehow a lot of junk has accumulated there! :)

  6. Amen to that last! I am trying to do at least one little thing each day, like cleaning out drawers. I should do some deep cleaning but just don't have the energy to start moving furniture to get that done.

    1. We are being super ambitious, either. It seems like having nothing much to do all day makes one sleepy and prone to napping.

    2. "aren't" being super ambitious

  7. Hold on... did I miss something? Are you not working for the nursing home anymore? Or just staying off for this virus thing?????
So thankful for the doctors & nurses that are battling this right now.
