1. Saturday marks the first official day of summer! Whoohoo! Your favorite thing about the season? Normally, it's all the fun things there are to do. This year not so much. So I will go with sitting on the deck early in the morning before it gets hot...listening to the birds sing...watching the grands race around the yard having a blast...grilling all sorts of goodies...listening to the pop-pop-pop of fireworks (and catching a glimpse of them if I'm lucky)...sitting around a fire toasting marshmallows...watching fireflies float in the evening air.
2. Love it!, labor of love, not for love or money, no love lost, love handles, love does, love-hate relationship, misery loves company, tough love, love will find a way...pick one and tell us how it applies to your life right now. How about love handles since most of us are sporting a few extra pounds since being stuck at home.
3. What's one thing currently causing you to seethe? One thing currently making you smile? The only thing coming close to making me seethe, but really it's more sadness, is the divide the current events in our country seem to be once again causing in my family. The one thing that always makes me smile...my grandchildren.
4. Of the following to-dos found on a summer checklist (here) which three would definitely make your personal list of summer want-to-dos?
roast marshmallows over a fire, go berry or peach picking, dangle your feet off the end of a dock, sit on a porch swing, watch the sunset from a beach, nap in a hammock, go barefoot in the grass, collect seashells, play tennis, go fishing, build a sandcastle, catch fireflies, eat a soft serve ice cream cone, make a pitcher of Sangria, swim in a lake, stargaze, ride a bike, paddle a canoe or kayak, make a summer road trip, throw a frisbee
Do you make an actual list? I would choose....sit on a porch swing, watch the sunset from a beach, and make a summer road trip. No, I don't actually make a list.
5. Thursday is National Splurge Day. What might you splurge on in order to celebrate? I'm going to an estate sale with my mom on Thursday, so who knows what treasure I might find to splurge on!
6. Insert your own random thought here. I'm ridiculously excited today. I get to get my hair cut and colored! Oh, happy day!!

Oh, I get that about the excitement over haircut and color! I'm getting mine cut and highlights on the 28th. Hope I can make it until then. Of course, the grandchildren do make us smile. Love the answer about the love handles! Haha! Truth!
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo on your hair appointment! Mostly I'm envious of your attending that estate sale. I get regular notification e-mails when one is happening nearby -- but our experiences have always been crowds of 'everyone for themself-ing' and don't trust social distance compliance. For a while there I liked the on-line auction estate sales, but those seem to have gone by the way. Love handles? Truth!
ReplyDelete#2 the infamous quarantine 15 - ugh! Hope you have a fantastic summer :)
ReplyDeleteYay for a haircut and color! No color is allowed here, only a haircut oh and she did shampoo it, smiles.
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I am not a summer girl...and a road trip sounds good...only NY is still not free---still under Covid mandates.
I have to keep a roving/moving/running list; since I take care of 2 households. Between mil and our home...well...its just best I keep a list. smiles
I hope you enjoy your day my friend.
Lucky you with the cut and color.. Bravo. enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteHope you find many nice things at the sale tomorrow too.
Whoop! Nothing lifts a mood like a hair cut and color! Enjoy! I'm sorry for the family conflict brought about by politics/our nation's divide. I think many families are experiencing this, and it's a real challenge to keep the peace, and also be true to who you are. I keep saying I'm going to quit eating so much sugar, but here I am thinking about what sweet treat I can indulge in after dinner. Willpower has flown out the window.
ReplyDeleteAn estate sale - what fun! We still are not allowed to hold them. Hope you find some goodies. Enjoy your hair cut. How sad that the current events are causing division in your family. I hope it all works itself out soon.
ReplyDeleteWhoop on the hair appointment! We both picked love handles for the same reason! LOL Little ones make everything so much more fun!! What a blessing!
ReplyDeleteYes on the love handles. I color my own hair and when I want to. I touch it up with a colorstick. I have entertained the thought of letting it go grey. I like to go to antique and second had stores. But most of what I get is for my crafting. We don't talk about politics with family or friends. We mostly talk about our kids/grandkids and old memories. You going to share you new hairdo?
