The weather...humid. Today we are expecting a high temperature of 84 degrees and thunderstorms. I hope so. We need the rain.
Allergies...are in overdrive. For me it is the pollen and molds. I woke up feeling like I'd been hit by a bus. For Megan and the grands it is that and the other grandparents' pool. Every time they swim in it (which is daily until ours gets put up) their allergies flare up. We thought it was odd, but we looked it up online and chlorine can cause such problems and Megan says they use a lot (as in probably too much) in their pool.
I'm reading...Book 3 in the Saints & Strangers cozy mystery series, The Bitter End by Keeley Bates and Annabel Chase. I've read all of them on my Kindle in the last week. Set in Westdale, PA among the elite descendants of the Mayflower (the Saints were the religious passengers) there's a cast of crazy characters, a handsome cop, and of course a murder or two in each book. They've been an easy and fun summer read.
Laughing at...this explanation of what 6 ft. looks like for those who live in Pittsburgh (or close to it as we do).
**An explanation for those of you who aren't yinzers: Heinz ketchup is a Pittsburgh creation, terrible towels are what Steeler fans wave at the games (and at home while watching the game), Stanley Cups...the Penguins have 5, parking chairs...when anything is going to be going on like a parade and parking will be at a premium and folks might park in your space...we break out the chairs to save our space.
Watching...nothing in particular. I have been trying to catch up with America's Got Talent. Such incredible back stories this year. Incredible talent, too! I love AGT so much because it's so positive and inspiring. And it's official, there's going to be another season of Virgin River. Yay! Now, if only word comes that there will be another season of Sweet Magnolias.
Feeling...better. I popped some ibuprofen and I broke out a Diet Coke (I've broke my addiction over the last 3 weeks!) and the combination has me feeling human.
Thinking about...the coming weekend and meeting my biological father for the first time. And all the photographs I have to go through before then to decide which ones to take with me to show him.
Celebrating...the new air conditioner. We had a portable one in the living room and it just wasn't cutting it. We bought a window one on Friday and moved the portable to the bedroom. I can't believe what a difference it made when they are the same BTU's. For whatever reason, the window unit cools much better....just in case you need to know that.
Enjoying...all my time with these two.
In the garden...two of my tomato plants have developed a fungus so I bought two new plants to replace them. The yellow squash is a monster, threatening to take over the one raised bed completely. There are little, bitty, baby squashes and zucchini already! There are a few little green tomatoes. Everything else has lots of blossoms and since clover has over taken the neighborhood this summer (seriously...everyone's yards are a blanket of clover blossoms...and Leah found her first 4-leaf clover a couple of weeks ago) there are more bees out there pollinating than we've seen in years.
Thoughts to ponder...
I think I have mentioned, we have 5 window ac's, spread out in the house. Indeed, it feels like central ac, smiles.
ReplyDeleteLoved your Thoughts to Ponder. Have a beautiful day friend.
We had central air, but it has crapped out after 25 years. Just not ready to put the big bucks into a new system yet because we are looking at a couple of different ideas.
DeleteI just started Sweet Magnolias yesterday. Looks like it may be something I will like. The trick will be finding a time to watch it when hubby's doing something else. Normally we watch TV together, but this won't be his type show.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good one. My daughter talked me into it and I loved it. I will tell you it ends on a huge cliffhanger...so be prepared to be frustrated until the next season comes along.
DeleteYour weather and allergies are like ours here.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures!
Have a good day my friend.
Thanks, Gloria! I hope you aren't having too rough a time with the allergies, they can be a real pain.
DeleteLove those reminders.
ReplyDeleteYAHOOO for new AC - with the humidity - I'm sure its a relief!
Laughing at the social distance. We need one of those for Kentucky with bourbon bottles or Louisville sluggers :)
It really is. We're actually getting COLD now! Ha! Bourbon bottles and Louisville sluggers...that would be a good one!
DeleteAmen, amen, amen to those last quotes! I am excited for you to be meeting your bio dad. Looking forward to hearing about him and your meeting. If y'all are allergic to chlorine, you can do salt instead when you get your pool. Ask at your pool supplier! Laughed at the social distancing poster! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the chlorine is bothering them since they are already being bothered by the seasonal allergies. There's never been an issue before. And it might just be that they do use too much chlorine. I don't picture them doing the water analysis and doing things just right. I figure them for just dumping chlorine in when they think they need to. As for the weekend with my father, I'm sure there will be pictures and lots to tell.
DeleteLOVE those quotes, Stacy! But not as much as those photos of Leah and Colton. I think AGT is my favorite show of late; and I love how Simon seems to be mellowing in his 'old age' (lol).
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think becoming a daddy has softened Simon up. He's been one of my "secret" crushes from the very beginning of American Idol. I never thought he was intentionally cruel, but rather that he just didn't want to give people false hope.
DeleteHi Stacy. I love this post. Cute grandkids and great quotes. I take Ibuprofen with diet coke when I am in pain - in fact, a physical therapist told me to do just that! Works for me. Have a good one and see you again soon.
ReplyDeleteI learned to take pain reliever and Coke years ago. That's the magic combination in Excedrine.
DeleteWhat a joy to visit you this evening! I'm so excited about you getting to meet your biological father! Thanks for sharing your journey.
ReplyDeleteMy Amber and her family love AGT. Good programs are hard to come by and I agree this one is inspiring. Life is better when you are not sweating! Great you have AC that works for you. Here in Texas you MUST have it!!!
I did noyt know about taking Ibuprofen with Diet Coke! I will try that with my aches and pains. Good knees now but they don't do joint replacements for your ankles yet!
God bless you, Stacy, with meeting your father.....
Ibuprofen/asprin/Tylenol...any of them combined with caffeine should help when nothing else does. Excedrine has packaged and sold the combo for years. Life is definitely better when you aren't sweating! You can only take so much off! LOL Thanks for the good thoughts for this weekend with my father.
