Snow Pictures

I had to watch the grand kiddos for a bit this morning so I'm late getting around to posting. Nothing much that's new to tell, but I did promise to share some daylight photos of the snow. So, here you go!

This is my mom's back porch. There's a bit of drifting going on. The floor of the porch sits about 4 feet off the ground. The steps, however, were packed solid.

Mom's post and rail fence and her climbing rose vine.

The toby (Catalpa) tree in mom's back yard. Isn't it pretty all covered in snow?

This arch is at the end of Mom's lot and has to be passed under when walking from our house. She always puts lights on it for Christmas and then changes the colors of the bulbs for the rest of the winter. It will be blue and white in January, red for Valentines' Day, green for St. Patrick's Day, and pastel colors for Easter. After that she will take it down.

In yesterday's post I shared a nighttime photo of this same view. This is after the snow stopped and with about 4-5 more inches of snow.

This is my poor car. The car still looks the same. I did, however, dig around it today. Tim had been walking around it for two days so I just shoveled where he had been walking and it wasn't too bad. I was going to clean it off so I could go shopping this afternoon, but Megan needs to go, too, and said she'd drive their truck so it's going to go undug for at least another day.

I just stepped off our deck when I took this one looking up at Mom's house. I just love how the trees look covered with snow.

Ah, bummer. My daughter just called. Her tooth is acting up and she's going to lay down for a while. If I want to go shopping...I'm going to have to dig out my car.

  1. I'm not sure I'd want to shop that bad. lol

The snow is beautiful and I love it if I can stay home, but not if I have to go to work or any place else.

Be safe and have a good weekend.

  2. Holy cow! It's 'snow' pretty, but y'all can have it. *giggle* Any temp over 50* is way too cold for these bones, especially on two wheels.
I thought Catalpa Trees only grow in warmer climes. Shows how much I know. Yours looks very healthy. Well done.
Y'all be safe. Stay warm. xx

    1. They are sort of an old fashioned tree around here. They were pretty common on old farms and you still see them now and then out in the country along the roads, but otherwise you don't see them much. Mom's is HUGE. I've never seen another that big. We had one growing over our back deck that made the best shade, but unfortunately it also got really moldy and slimy because it didn't get any sun. Last year it got infested with something we'd never seen before...Catalpa worms. YUCK! I had Tim cut it down. I didn't want to deal with those on the deck ever again. The smaller one in the front yard didn't seem to have them this year, nor did Mom's so I guess we beat them.

  5. So, did you go shopping or not? I'm guessing not. I wouldn't. I'd wait for someone else to dig me out! It sure is pretty though. Glad it's you and not me, but it is so lovely! It was quite cold here today for Florida...34 this morning and didn't get above 54. That's cold for us. But no snow. Glad you are all safe. I guess I didn't realize your Mom lived next door! That's handy!! Blessings to you and yours. I still have a little shopping to do too. I may go early in the morning, but we shall see how much I want to fight the crowds on the last Saturday before Christmas. I may wait until Monday. Stay warm and safe...that's what matters most!

    1. Not exactly. I ordered something online, but it needed to be picked up at a store behind the mall. Tim drove me up to get it when he got home and since we were out that way I ordered Red Lobster and we picked it up on the way back...his birthday dinner a day early. While we were gone Megan and Cody finished shoveling the driveway and cleaned off my car. Luv them!
