The weather... a dreary, drizzly 36 degrees with snow flurries in the forecast.
I'm reading... Sunrise Cabin by Stacey Donovan. It's a Hallmark publication so basically a movie on paper. It's a fun read, but not great literature. Excited to choose my next read. I just got 4 new books from Amazon. Probably, it's either going to be the next in the Walt Longmire series or The Radium Girls by Kate Moore.
I'm hearing... the hum of the laptop, the click of the keys, and the Poodle's soft, little snores.
I'm watching... nothing at the moment, but we've been watching Quantico. We're enjoying it, but it sure does leave you wondering. It's all about the FBI and the CIA and there is so much undercover stuff going on that you never have any idea who is a good guy and who is a bad guy and if you think you do...you're probably wrong. I need some suggestions on what to watch next. Please don't tell me The Crown or The Queen's Gambit. I know how good those are supposed to be and I would probably enjoy them and might take up watching them now and then on my own, but Tim will never agree to watch them.
New Years... came and went without much fanfare. It was just the two of us here at home on New Year's Eve and Tim had worked so he didn't come close to making it until midnight. I watched the ball drop and then went to bed. New Year's Day it was mostly just us again. We puttered around the house and Tim put my new desk together. It was a miserable rainy day. I don't know the official measurement, but I'm sure we got rain that could be measured in inches. It quit by suppertime and we brought the Christmas boxes in before heading up to my mom's house for a pork and sauerkraut dinner. We stayed and visited a bit afterward.
The weekend... found Tim working on Saturday and I packed up Christmas for another year. We ordered Chinese for dinner and had it delivered by Grub Hub. Never again! Grub Hub charges an 18% service fee, tried to slide a 20% tip by me without my approval...at least they waived the $3.99 delivery fee because I was a first time user. With all that it ended up costing over $57 for an order that usually costs us around $35 to have delivered by the restaurant itself!
On Sunday we actually got up and went to do the grocery shopping first thing in the morning. I had thought Tim was going to work and had planned to go to church, but he decided he could thread the pipes he needed to do here at home. Since he did that and was willing to help with the groceries to be at home with me, I went with it. I will watch the recording of church this week. Maybe later today.
Megan and the kids were over for a while in the evening. We enjoyed their visit. Those kids sure make our day and Leah is turning out to be such a funny little thing!
Today... I'm going to finish putting the house back to normal. I have to switch out the Christmas curtains on the kitchen island and window, clean the windows and mirrors where I took the clingy decorations off, run the vacuum, dust, and put the photos and other knick-knacks back. And if my package comes from Amazon today I'll be able to organize and arrange things on my new desk the way I want them.
A thought that is actually a video (sorry if you saw my post of it on Facebook)...
Wow, I'm tired just reading about all the stuff you are doing. I haven't begun to put away Christmas yet. I need a few days to rest before I tackle anything else after having company here over New Years, etc. Besides, I am still enjoying it, and it isn't January 6th yet. That's when my family traditionally took things down. I thought it was because it was my mother's birthday and that is when her family did it (actually AFTER her birthday was over), but now I also know it is Epiphany and that is when the Wise Men came (albeit a couple years later) and it is the 12th day of Christmas. So that's my excuse for not doing anything yet. I Love your header...is that you? Looks so cozy. That chinese dinner thing sounds kind of pricey, but what the hey! You got to eat and didn't have to cook. Sometimes we just have to accept the trade off. Speaking of eating, supper is ready and I need to go. Bye for now!!
ReplyDeleteLots of people leave their decorations up and the outside lights on through Epiphany here. I just got in the habit of taking mine down on New Years Day or as close to it as possible because of work. No, that's not me in the header...just a picture I found online. Yes, the Chinese was very pricey! Lesson learned. No ordering through Grub Hub ever again. We've used Door Dash and they are more reasonable, but they don't deliver from that particular restaurant.
DeleteOh, I wish I had a tenth of your get-up-and-go. I'm still in slug mode, watching the tree lights and channeling Scarlett O'Hara: "I'll think about that tomorrow." Leah's so adorable. Is it my imagination, or is she her momma's doppelganger?
ReplyDeleteLeah does have a lot of her momma in her, but she is a dead ringer for Tim's oldest sister.
DeleteMy book group will be discussing Radium Girls this Wednesday--should be a fascinating conversation.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading it, though I admit to being a bit surprised at how thick it was!
DeleteLeah is adorable... but you already know that!! You were busy! Wow! I got our house put back together on Saturday. It does feel good to be back to normal (whatever that is!). Have a good week, Stacy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terri!
DeleteYou sure are a busy lady! Leah is a cutie, her sweet smile makes me smile. I've already finished one book this year, and I'm ready to start a new one, Death Stalks Kettle Street. Hope it's good.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting my second book this evening. I hope to do a lot more reading this year and keeping track of it. Let us know how your new book is! Yes, Leah has a wonderful smile that seems to get to everyone who sees it. We just love her to pieces.
DeleteGrubHub doesnt come out this far to us - but now, i'm glad to know it doesn't - LOL
ReplyDeleteI love your new blog look with the books & that cover pic is just cozy.
Yeahhh...we've used Door Dash a few times and it's never been that bad. I was stunned by the GH total. Then they sent a text saying they were going to be like 20 minutes later than they said. Then they texted that they were on the way. They actually got there 10 minutes earlier than they originally told me...and I suspect it was the restaurant that delivered it, which has me asking, "Did they get the tip or did Grub Hub keep it?"
DeleteI just checked out the Radium Girls on my Libby app after seeing it your post. It sounds really interesting. That song is so true and rather convicting. Thank you for posting it as I'd never heard it before.
ReplyDeleteLove your new blog look!!
I've started reading The Radium Girls. It's pretty interesting and written well and it's easy to read so far. I can't believe I never heard of this part of our history before! And the photos in the book...those poor girls! I hadn't heard that song before either and I love Casting Crowns, but according to YouTube it came out in 2019. Thanks for letting me know you like the blog look. Have a great day, Cathy!
